I got this bass yesterday, needing a cheap bass for home recording projects. I didn't expect a whole lot, because I've had Squier equipment before (and have been very disappointed in the past). However, I was blown away when I tried it out and even more so when I put some new strings on it.

The great thing is how versatile this bass is. I've been using it for rock, metal, pop-punk, and a little bit of thrash. It sounds phenomenal in every genre I've wanted it in. It plays very well, the neck is relatively fast, and it's fairly lightweight compared to other bass guitars.

My only recommendation is swapping out the stock strings. It makes a big difference and with some medium-gauge strings, it'll sound better than you'd ever think a Squier guitar could sound. I'm extremely glad I got this bass and would happily buy it again.

.WHAT A DEAL FOR A FINE LOOKING AND MOST IMPORTANT A FINE FEELING AND SOUNDING BASS. MINE IS THE LAKE PLACID BLUE...VERY NICE!!! PERFECT SET-UP RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. NO FRET BUZZ, NO SHARP FRETS. I HAVE BEEN PURCHASING SQUIRES FOR YEARS NOW AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN UNDERSIREABLE EXPERIENCE WITH ANY. THIS AFFINITY JAZZ BASS IS GOOD TO GO ON ANY GIG WITH ME!!!

.Excellent bang for your buck, here! I was looking at using only the body as a project piece...but I'm pleasantly surprised, and may run with it for awhile as is. Good neck and pocket fit. Tuners handle the job. Controls, bridge, and pups don't measure up to USA standards - but what does one expect for this kind of money? I'll add some USA Fender parts that are on hand, and have a player that I can use anywhere. Great starter bass as is, and good (or soon will be) for any kind of studio and/or live duty.

.This bass is very nice in its basic stock form. A set up is a good idea. Not much attention is needed in the electronics dept., but you may want to check the jack, it's as thin as a paper clip.
Beautiful fit and finish.
It came detuned, and the neck was a bit out. But since the set-up it's been Absolutely Fabulous!

.Wife got this one for me for Christmas in the classic "Lake Placid Blue". Although this is my first bass, I've been playing Guitar for 35 years. My two cents....you simply can not find a better value for your buck. The finish is gorgeous, and flawless. The Rosewood finger board on mine has some REALLY nice figure to it. The neck was straight and perfect. The tuning machines are literally identical to the ones I've seen on Fender USA Basses, and hold really well. This one required no setup out of the box, the action was nice and low just the way I like it. Both pick ups were nice and strong and clear. Another thing to mention is the GREAT tone this thing has,( guttural lows, punchy mids, and clear highs). I seriously don't know what your getting for the Fender USA Bass for all the additional cash, over this one...... This gets my "Just Buy it already! " rating.

.The setup out of the box was fine, and the feel of the neck on these, well it is what sold me on the Affinity Jazz VS other models. I have ugpraded mine, to suit my tastes, not that there was anything wrong with it. HOWEVER, I have one issue with it that is driving me batty, and that is a poor quality finish. The finish is popping off in little flecks. This is obviously a surface prep problem at the factory (have they heard of primer?), sadly the Fender authorized facility says it's dents (it's not, there is one spot that is dented, and the paint stayed put). It is most likely my one unit that is like this, I have had Squier affinity basses in the past with no problems. I am keeping this one as a great neck is so hard to find, but you can bet your belly button I am going to strip it and refinish it once it annoys me enough... If I hadn't bought it as a modding platform, I would have yelled a LOT more at Fender about the finish quality problems...

.THIS IS A VERY NICE BASS. GOOD SOUND AND GREAT
WORKMANSHIP. PERFECT SETUP RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.
ONLY THING I DID WAS CHANGE STRINGS. PROBABLY NOT
NECESSARY BUT SOMETHING I ALWAYS DO. BASS PLAYING
FRIENDS WERE REALLY IMPRESSED.

.Needed a good cheap bass and saw the good reviews on this. They are absolutely true. Has the feel and sound of a Fender Jazz bass for the price of a toy. I did adjust the intonation, truss and the string height a bit, but that's mostly because I'm OCD about neck mechanics. I did not feel the need to change the strings as some other folks did. And...it's true that you will get hum out of the pickups at anything but the middle volume setting, but that's to be EXPECTED with single coil pickups and I did not find it excessive. If you want less hum, don't get an instrument that uses single coil pickups. Besides, as another reviewer wrote, there are add-on pedals that can eliminate the hum entirely if it really bugs you. Only gripe I have is a very minor beef about getting a slight scratchy static noise if the tone control is moved with signal running thru it. Excellent finish work on fingerboard and frets. Flawless gloss finish. Tuning machines are good enough but not top-notch. All-in-all an EXCELLENT value.

.I've had a ton of basses including two Fender Custom Shops that each cost around $2400, this bass is around 9/10ths of those basses at a fraction of the price. The satin neck feels great, no frets poking out, and the tone is sweet passive J-Bass bliss.

However, the bass listed as "Race Green" is a mistake, it is in fact "Slick Sliver" as shown in the picture. I was hoping the picture was wrong, but it was the words. Squier doesn't make the JBass in Race Green.

That being said I exchanged it for a Lake Placid Blue. MF rep Brady was great with the exchange and I had no issues. Now I'm just waiting for the blue one to get here so I can gig with it and blow people's minds when they see it's a Squier!

.I got this in Metallic Red as a used bass. I play guitar, but I love to play bass and I wanted something to play for fun. This bass sounds and feels great. I wouldn't hesitate to use it to play out in public. While I'm sure that a Fender is better, this really works well for my purposes.
