I read a lot of reviews on this product before deciding to buy. I own several Squier basses and had great success with them. I normally hot rod them, customize them and just see how far I can take them; they never let me down. I thought I'd go ahead and get this one because of the PJ set up and when I took it out of the box I was immediately struck with how solid this bass felt. So far all I've done to it is add strap-locks and a Hipshot Extender. As it is; this baby is going right into my starting rotation. I saw one review where someone said "I'd play it out, but I'm not a professional bassist", well sir, I am a professional - and I'm playing it out!

.Ok, It's not a made in America model. Maybe the pickups arent the best. But this is as nice of an instrument I have ever owned or played. Neck, fretwork, setup, body, is all as good as any costing thousands more. Pickups can be changed if you wish. Also the bridge and strings. Get some confidence in yourself and your playing and get a Squier. You won't play any better on an Alembic. Waste your money on an expensive bass if you are worried what your friends will say. Play your butt off on a reasonably priced, well made instrument, and show the guys who is smart. I've been playing since 1963.

.Quality for the price range should really be 10 stars! This bass amazes me for its modest price. Nice finish and feel. I bought it with the intention of putting a fretless neck on it and doing some other modifications, but I'm very tempted to keep it as is. I was ready to do some set-up on it, but I didn't find that necessary. The neck is surprisingly straight and playable for an instrument in this range--evidence that it takes a Fender company to make the best Fender "copies." Of course, the strings it shipped with are horrible. I've switched them for some D'Addario half rounds, and the sound is very satisfying--especially having both the P and J pickups for a little variety. Run through a compressor, it can kick out some serious sound. No, it's not a Fender Custom Shop instrument, but for the price, it's pretty amazing! I've been playing for over 35 years. I don't really care what the peg head says, as long as the instrument works for me, and this one is going to work very well...with or without a new neck.

.Great GREAT value..the affinity series is no joke now..just the fact you can buy a PJ bass for this price is enough to give it shot...the fretwork is amazing...great great bass

.Been playing a few years and have more expensive, nicer basses. Bought this as a backup/beater and am knocked out by the quality, easily matches the CV Squier series. Pickups sound great, could use some shielding but the hum is really not too bad and goes away with 1/3 turn of the tone knob. Nice smooth pots on the electronics with good range of volume and tone. Put some threaded saddles on to get proper alignment of the strings thru the pole pieces. Could use some new tuners down the line but these hold tune well, not the smoothest turning though. The body finish on mine (white) is flawless, nice tight neck pocket. The neck is very nice, no skunk stripe, pretty rosewood fingerboard which I oiled with some bore oil since it looked kinda dry, (nice touch on the pearl dot markers too!). I can get a really low action, like 3/32 on the low E with no buzz. The frets are good, they don't stick out at all, maybe a little sharp on some but nothing uncomfortable. All in all, this thing is a no brainer for a backup or just a darn good bass to be had for little scratch, pull the trigger!

.I purchased the black finish. I am definitely shocked. Affinity has done it with this one. I mean this with all sincerity, this bass is a STEAL. The neck/body is definitely a P-Bass, the head stock also says its P-Bass. You get the addition of the J-bass bridge pick up which gives added flexibility tone-wise. When both picks ups are turned up it has this great punchy sound. Tone is outstanding. Each pick up alone sounds great too. The Bass arrived well packed. The only thing I needed to do was tighten the Tone knob a bit with the Allen wrench (which is provided in the box). I like this bass better than my Fender MIM Jazz 5-string. The build quality/fret work is actually very good and the finish is very nice. I checked all frets / strings, zero fret buzz. Action is nice and low out of the box. I am really happy with this bass, and I would buy another one in a second. Get them while you can. If you don't, I will ;)

.I have the Fender Deluxe Jazz and The American Standard Jazz and this little baby gives them a run for the money. It has great highs and punchy lows. You may have to adjust the action and change the strings. That's about it. Buy this puppy, you won't regret it. I use it for a Motown and Funk band. I still can't believe the price. Good luck.

.I'm basicly a guitar player although throughout my years of playing I've done the bass thing too. I was wanting a bass to play at home and, have fun with but, my son is a bass player and, I figured he may enjoy playing it to. The P Bass has always been my favorite and, this one is no exception. I like the race red color but, I always like red. The extra pickup is a nice touch really adds versatality to sound of the instrument. The value in this bass is really surprising, I'm really enjoying it. I'm not a really a fan of Squier instruments but, I do have a couple of vintage modified guitars Jaguar and, Jazzmaster and, I must admit they are excellent! If you're looking for a bass at Great price check this one out. Honestly if it didn't say Squier on the headstock you couldn't tell it from a top end Fender. The Custom Guitars Gear molded case is a perfect fit.

In high school in the '70's I would have sneered at a Squier, but after practicing with a friend with his Affinity I bought one, too.

I just can't believe that any company can offer a bass with these features at this price point! The strength of this instrument is the materials used and its tonal versatility. I was looking for a budget precision bass when I stumbled upon this one. You can solo the neck pickup as much as you want but when the song comes up the requires a contemporary bass tone you've got the bridge pickup to bring to bear. Honestly this bass seems too good to be true but it's no joke.
