The Ovation Acoustic-Electric Mandolin with Case is designed from the ground up as an acoustic/electric instrument. It features a hand-selected solid-spruce top with lightweight, Mando-Quintad bracing designed to enhance punch and projection.

Ovation's pioneering multi-soundhole design enhances string vibration and sustain by improving soundboard efficiency. With its roundback composite body, the Ovation Mandolin offers more acoustic volume and cutting power than expensive flatback models.

The instrument's upper-bout soundholes are inlaid with exotic hardwoods, and a cutaway offers full access to the sleek, gloss-finished 5-piece mahogany/maple neck and ebony fretboard. A custom high-output pickup and special version of the OP-24+ preamp give the Ovation Mandolin unparalleled amplified tone.

Offering whisper-quiet audio circuitry with very low distortion, the OP-24+ features 3-band EQ with a bypass switch, a Mid-Shift control for selecting a midrange center frequency of either 400 Hz or 1 kHz, a Pre-Shape circuit for boosting bass and treble response while cutting rumble-prone frequencies below 40 Hz, and a battery status light. To provide complete control over the high-output preamp signal, the OP-24+ has a custom-taper volume slider. Includes case.

Started with a rogue mandolin, then upgraded to this one. Love the electric feature for playing open mic. Tone is great with my Ernie ball earthwoods, very playable.

.I've played my Ovation acoustic-electric cutaway Mandolin for over 15 years. I've played with Country, Pop, and Gospel bands. I've had to crank-it-up on many, many occasions and with zero problems.The pick-up in this mandolin is no less than awesome. I play through a Fender Acoustasonic 150 W amp. What a match-up. I've owned several acoustic-electric mandolins and none can compare to the Ovation. If you plan on playing with an electric band, you can't go wrong with the Ovation. Happy Gigging
