The most important thing for you to know is that this boom arm does not come with the down tube show in the picture. I have several issues with this and the way Custom Guitar's Friend listed this item that I will list at the end of the review.

I purchased this counterweight boom arm because I love my hardware and because I have several large Paiste ride cymbals in 22" and 24" that I overhang my kick from the side which were a little unstable with regular boom arms. The short of it is this boom arm gave me the extra length and stability I was looking for, it is good looking and well made and overall I am very happy with it.

Several points; there is considerable flex in this arm and depending how far out you extend it from the down tube you will get some bobbing up and down. Sometimes due to some random sticking patter it can get fairly significant.

I am not crazy about the tilter wing-nut, you have to reach under the tilter to get to it, it is very close to the tilter base and overall a little awkward to get to. I replaced this tilter wing-nut an old school wing-nut, the kind with the wings that came with the older Recording Custom hardware and that worked much better.

As far as I can tell this boom arm will only work with the latest style of hardware, like the down tube that is shown in the picture where the down-tube adjustment clamp opens up like a clam. This is needed to get the arm into the stand. If you have the older hardware that requires you slide the arm down through the hole you will have to buy a newer down tube....and that brings me to my last point.

Custom Guitar's Friend clearly shows this boom arm with the down tube but it does not come with it. I called Customer service and they said "yeah, it doesn't come with it". Well, OK, then why did you show it in the picture? They said that they do that a lot to show context. What?? There is not one other cymbal boom arm on this site that does not come with the down tube. That is how cymbal boom arms are sold, with the arm and a down-tube, that is the package. Either way, some will agree with me and some won't but I think this is crooked. Either way, please know that this Boom arm does not come with the down tube and unless you have an extra one laying around you will be put in a position of buying a complete new boom arm set up to make this work.
