I've owned this cello for 3 years or so now and have used it in live shows for about 2. I am truly pleased with this cello. It plays well, feels good and leaves a very open door for experimenting with pedals and sounds.I don?t use the headphone output often, but it sounds great plugged directly into a PA, or ran thru an amp/cabinet set up. I?ve noticed it responds very well to guitar effects, such as distortion, delay, chorus, etc.I've had it hooked up to a few guitar amps, but to get the true low end it offers, I feel a bass amp works best. I currently use a 450wt bass head ran to a cabinet with a 15" sub, and a 4X12 Line6 guitar cab. It sounds great! I have yet to try using a 4x10 bass cabinet, but believe it would do just as well with high and low end.As far as pedals, I feel it responds better to guitar effects vs. bass effects pedals. I would recommend using a reverb pedal when using overdrive/distortion. If you have the reverb switch on it makes these effects sound very muddy or washed out. When playing clean, however, the built in reverb is an excellent touch. It?s just too hard to have to use a hand to hit a switch vs. using a foot on the floor.

.great to practice but don't perform professionally with this cello. Great action. The non-accoustic nature of the instrument makes it harder to rely on overtones for accurate intonation. So in a way it makes you listen more to your own intonation.
