Product Description

The nylon-stringed NTX1200R Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar is capable of producing great warmth and subtlety while offering playability and dynamics that resemble a steel-string guitar. With its slimmed-down cutaway body and more slender neck, this is a decidedly contemporary classical guitar. Electric guitarists and steel-string acoustic players take to the NYX Series enthusiastically while expanding their performance versatility. NTX1200R has a round tone yet possesses enough cut to make itself at home on material ranging from bossa novas to pop to jazz and beyond. It's fitted with a solid Sitka Spruce soundboard that delivers crisp definition mellowed by the nylon strings interacting with the solid Indian rosewood back and sides. The rosewood imparts harmonic complexity and overtones that can be readily amplified via the electronics system and helps enrich complex solo performances. The African mahogany neck is tightly fitted to the body for maximum tone transfer. The NTX1200R also features the A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), an original wood reforming technology developed by . Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. The NTX1200R acoustic-electric guitar produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range. Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians. Their evaluations are nearly identical to those for guitars that have been played for years, and their comments often include terms such as "well settled," "mature," "warm," "excellent resonance," and "clear."'s ART (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system is purpose designed to offer the most natural, dynamic and expressive electro-acoustic sound on the market. Proprietary multi-layer contact sensors perfectly combine ultra-wide dynamic range with outstanding feedback rejection for the most accurate and natural performance sound. The NTX1200R uses a 2-way system with contact pickups mounted on the treble and bass sides of the guitar bridge. To reduce unwanted feedback caused by vibration the NX Series contact pickup utilizes an additional multilayer damper to ensure the tone is captured in its purest form. Complementing the warm, full mid-range of the nylon-string tone, the System 61 preamp allows individual volume control over the treble and bass side pickups, allowing you to get the perfect blend for your style. The System 61 preamp also features a 3-band EQ for sound shaping and an on-board tuner.Dressed in a natural finish, this acoustic guitar will turn heads and ears with its construction, beauty and sound. And thanks to the pickup system, amplification is a cinch.

I played quite a few crossover nylon string guitars before settling on this one. I compared it to Taylor and Cordoba. I chose this guitar because it was all solid woods, played good and the pickup system is superior to piezo systems, sounding alot more natural without the piezo nasal sound. It also came with a semi-hard quality case. This is not a guitar for a true classical player, but for those wanting a nylon flavor and used to steel strings it's hard to beat.

.One of the best cross-overs I have ever played. This guitar comes in under the price range of all it's competitors and stands right up against them in quality. I preferred the deeper tone with this guitar compared to the Taylor N32, but both had great playability. The electronics are first rate and the guitar is VERY comfortable to play. The action out of the box was surprisingly good, though you should always have a go at it with your guitar tech.

.I have recently acquired the NTX1200R. I am an amateur hobby guitarist but quite regularly join musicians for jamming session. This guitar is versatile which I could use with ease for scaling (formerly using APX900) and now the benefit of plucking too especially with classical and latin musics. It sounds clear and crisp yet not loud. when plucked to the sound system it delivers the exact sound albeit louder and crispier sound. I am fully satisfied with this buy. It would be good if there's a choice of a darker tone wood or other alternative colour.

.The NTX1200R has a warm tone and the action is great! This is the best sounding crossover I've played - even compared to more expensive models. It also includes a very nice case.

.I'm lovin' it. Best for those of us who play steel string acoustic/electric and want a nylon tone. I think traditional classical/flamenco players would not like it...

.I tried the NTX700 and found inferior quality. Spent twice as much for this, and it is a bargain. Very pleased with this.

.After owning about a half dozen crossover nylon string acoustic/electrics I took a chance on this one and overall it is very nice indeed. Pros: excellent fit and finish, comes with a high quality hard foam case, beautiful design, best sounding (amplified) crossover I've heard or played, far superior to Taylor, Godin, even the Martin 000-C, all of which I've owned. Comfortable neck profile, but did need a bit of tweaking to adjust the action. Cons: weak but fairly pleasing unamplifed sound but that was expected with the thin body and cutaway. Changing to ProArte high tension strings helped a bit. Biggest complaint is the string spacing. The nut is cut with the low E and high E too far in; a tiny bit father out would still let a steel string player appreciate the narrower fingerboard compared to all pure classical guitars and even some crossovers. The very narrow space between the nylon strings requires some serious adjustment to technique - and I have fairly narrow fingers. A person with wide fingers will have serious issues with this string spacing. FWIW, I am a professional guitarist and teacher with many decades experience and have owned more than fifty acoustic guitars, both steel string and nylon. I will put "yes, would recommend" below, but with a bit of hesitation due to string spacing issues.

.I would buy the NTX 1200r again in a second. I was going to keep my cutaway traditional classical neck but with this being able to do it ALL, I don't believe I will now. Tone is extremely full and balanced treble to bass and the feel of the radius is superior. It seems the spruce and rosewood make up for less body depth even though it has not fully opened up yet. Played through 2 guitar amps and one PA since arrived and was able to adjust tones for a very musical amplified sound each time. I played the most usually mentioned competitors at near price points and chose NTX 1200 as it was so controllable in the performance and had excellent sound in the living room. My main instrument is a Taylor 712 so this body depth made me feel right at home. I mainly play traditional and modern hymns and accompany vocalists and this is a very welcome addition. The guitars that sound best in my living room do not always sound the best in performance, but I play this in both places.

.Played guitar and piano professionally for 30 years. Have no attachment to Corporation. But I do have a C5A grand piano, 3 other electronic keyboards (including the S90), and EMX 16 channel powered mixer. Find it difficult to believe that a corporation can produce so many quality products in music that come from completely different directions of the industry (guitar, piano, electronic piano, powered mixer, etc.)
This guitar sounds and looks like a Grammy award guitar unplugged. And sounds even better when plugged in. The lightweight case allows for airport transport and backpacking afterwards. An amazing guitar. I rarely write reviews. Most products are acceptable. This one is worthy of praise.
