I expected this cleaning rod to be of the same quality and material (lightweight aluminum) as the one that originally came with my YSL-643 trombone back in 1975, but it is far superior. It is of a heavier and far more rigid metal than the original rod (which I have bent several times over the years). I would have to make a concerted effort to bend this rod. I could not be more please with the quality and price.

.I got this rod after years of only ever using a cleaning snake in the past.
I did some reading and a lot of people were suggesting cleaning your slide with a rod and rag to get to the really caked on gunk on the inside of your outer slide-- especially if like me, you've never done it before.
It does what it needs to, and it does it well. If you've got a trombone and no cleaning rod, YOU NEED ONE!

.The mute didn't work initially, took several hours of research and testing to identify the problem was multiple poor electrical connections between the mute, control unit and ear buds. Still getting static and popping at times but it is working. Had to replace cable from mute to controller to get the system working.
The ear buds are cheap, be prepared to replace with headphones better ear buds but it sounds best with head phones.
Would recommend with some reservations

.Using this for a few minutes with a cheeesecloth will eliminate dings in the trombone. It is really amazing. It wa at my front door within 3 days and the folks at Custom Guitars Friend are top notch.
