i play a four-piece yamaha setup and wanted a clean and simple way to mount a single tom [i.e., i didn't want to use the large double tom mount for just the one drum]. this was NOT the right piece of hardware for which to mount my tom to my yamaha bass drum; the hex rod was too long and awkwardly placed the tom too far from the mount and into the snare or kick hoop. HOWEVER, i actually ordered both mounts; this one, and the other one with shorter hex rod, and the short hex worked PERFECTLY (at least for me). musicians friend made the return quick, painless, and easy. -- note: i play a 20" bass with a 10" mounted tom.
