Just got mine in the mail the other day, and it sounds absolutely beautiful. Warm sound. Beautiful dark brown wood. Couldn't be happier. Upgraded from the standard student model, and I notice a huge difference in quality.

.I have owned the YCL-450 for roughly 2 years now and i am very satisfied with it. If you are looking for an intermediate level clarinet this is unbeatable for the price. Most people look at the Buffet E-11 in addition to this model however from experience i have noticed that with Buffet instruments prices tend to be substantially higher with little to no difference in the quality/features.Overall i would recommend this instrument to anyone.Pros:great sounddurableinexpensivewider bell (for better projection)Cons:The one problem i had with this instrument is that the B key dosent work unless you press very hard (i have noticed this on several yamahas) hoverer this is a very easy adjustment that can be done with a screwdriver

.I'm reviewing based on my daughter's comments. She's and advanced middle school player (plays with HS Band) and this is her first Intermediate clarinet. She said that it is easy to play and has really enjoyed it so far (only have had for a few weeks). The wood looks very nice as do the keys and pads compared to her Student clarinet. I've also noticed that when she's learning new pieces, that I haven't heard any squeaking. We are following the break in recommendations for a wood clarinet, so once that period is over I'm sure that I'll hear her put hours into playing.

.I just bought this for my daughter few weeks ago....it looks beautiful, she very liked it...for myself I don't know anything about music.....Anyone knows about the protection plan 2 or 3 years??? Do we really need to buy protection plan????
