Unbelieveable quality in build and sound for price point. makes great products. The mango wood is a nice touch! Love the stylish tuners that are attractive and conservitavely sized. I put Elixir strings on mine for my own playing preferences.

I'm an experienced bass player and this is beautiful with an great sound. I just love the tone. Neck is smooth. The prices was great too. Great bass for slap. Only down side is I'm tall and this bass is 3 inches shorter than my P-Bass so it looks a little tiny on me. But again, I'm very tall. always makes quality stuff and this is my 3rd bass. I would highly recommend this bass. BTW, some call it a beginner bass, it is not.

.Other reviewers' complaints about the front veneer are specific to this color (you can see the odd 2-tone effect in the photos). This model also comes in "root beer," tobacco burst, and translucent black. Those finishes all blend the front veneer pretty seamlessly with the mahogany back, while still showing some nice front grain (very subtly in black).

's Indonesian-made 174 series mixes together fairly unbeatable features and tone in this price range. They aren't the world's fanciest basses, but they make no serious compromises. Necks are 1-piece maple (no 5-piece matchsticks). Bodies are made from real tonewoods: 3-piece mahogany (174EW) or 3-piece alder (174). The P/J pickup combination offers a wide range of tones, with solid electronics throughout.

Nice touches: The neck is skinny (like a Jazz Bass') but extended to 24 frets. The downsized body is really lightweight, while substantial enough to be resonant. With the right EQ, these can really punch.

Only downsides: I played 2 of these at my local GC, and noticed a real difference in tone. So I'd recommend buying from a local store where you can compare 2–3 copies. Also, the neck's satin finish feels a bit coarse to me. (I love satin finishes, but like them smoother.)

While priced like a beginner's bass or impulse purchase, these are well-made, viable, giggable instruments. I've had my similar RBX270F fretless for years, and love it. (Especially since Victor Wooten signed its headstock.)

.I play at my church, and it sounds great a clear.

.I bought this as a backup bass. I play guitar but seem to have been elected as the backup bass player in the band.

This guitar play good. The neck is finished very well. Doesn't have any sharp fret ends. It's light. Doesn't have a lot of neck dive. Sounds good.

Things that are meh, is the veneer on the body. They could have left that off and still had a good looking guitar. The volume and tone knobs look and feel like cheap plastic.

.This is a secondary instrument to my guitars. Plays good and sounds good. The neck has an almost unfinished feel to it. Nice. The control knobs are a cheap looking and feeling plastic. The body has a veneer that just looks ok. would have been better off not putting the veneer on because the rest of the body is finished very nicely.

.As the title suggests, it's a very nice bass for the price, but two things could be improved. One, the vintage-spec frets are tiny, and seem unsuited for a 24-fret modern looking bass. Two, the machine heads feel cheap and are rough to turn, and the closed-back design makes it impossible to get any lube in the gears.Otherwise, its a great looking and playing bass, and can't be beat for the price.

.Blown away at the quality of this mass produced instrument...the neck is amazing for this price. The body is solid as well. For the money its excellent and you can always build on it.
Yamaha TRBX174EW Mango Wood 4-String Electric Bass Guitar Natural
.I feel this is one of my best purchases. The bass sounds really nice and being able to blend the tones gives a wide variety of tones. This bass can handle anything that you throw at it. At the end of the day it depends on how one plays too. Quality craftsmanship and a balanced and comfortable design.
