This D28 dreadnought is a cornerstone of modern music

The Martin D-28 acoustic guitar offers the deep bass response that's made Martin dreadnoughts so popular. Yet it also has a high-end presence that sings out even in heavy instrumentation. Martin's D-28 is both loud and subtle, and has a quick response. The powerful voice and full sound of the D-28 has made it a staple in the Bluegrass world.

A quality acoustic guitar is all about the wood, and the Martin D-28 delivers no-compromise quality. The top is of solid Sitka spruce for projection and spectacular note clarity. It's back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, a classic Martin material. A solid wood neck with solid black ebony fingerboard gives the Martin D-28 awesome playing ease to match its awesome sound!

In the early part of the twentieth century, the history of the modern guitar began. Martin's early dreadnoughts set into motion the guitar's prominent role in modern music and set the standard for tone quality in acoustic guitars. Martin dreadnoughts became known for resonantwarm tones, quality craftsmanship, and tasteful styling.

‘The Martin D-28 acoustic guitar offers the deep bass response that's made Martin dreadnoughts so popular. Yet it also has a high-end presence that sings out even in heavy instrumentation. Martin's D-28 is both loud and subtle and has a quick response. The powerful voice and full sound of the D-28 have made it a staple in the bluegrass world, but its bold sonic signature has been heard cross-genre.

A quality acoustic guitar is all about the wood, and the Martin D-28 serves up a classic tonewood cocktail with no compromises. The top is solid Sitka spruce for big projection and spectacular note clarity. Its back and sides are made of East Indian rosewood, a classic Martin material. A solid wood neck with solid black ebony fingerboard gives the Martin D-28 amazing playing ease to match its awesome sound!I thought adding a review from a Martian that was purchased in 2002 would provide people more of an insight of the playability, durability, and just was a sound producing instrument this is as you get age behind you. This was my first guitar purchase that I paid over $1,000 for a guitar at that time in 2002. I knew the Martin was a very well respected guitar brand, but I always liked the Gibson or Guild, as both were very popular when I started playing in the mid-60's and my heart was set on purchasing one of those brands. In the Folk Era time of the 60's To own a Gibson or Guild meant you were a very serious player, able to lay out some serious coin for an instrument. Martins were not all that popular for some reason in the Boston area, it was Gibson who was the king of acoustic guitars.

Well life happened, jobs, moving, family and so on, and I ended up having to sell my Fender Mustang, and Hoyer Acoustic in the mid-70's.I played on borrowed guitars during the late 80's and 90's, slowly getting back into playing on occasion as time permitted. During the later 90's several life changing events occurred and I found myself getting more and more involved with playing once again on a regular schedule. ’
