Product Description

The Archon 25 brings the king of PRS high-gain amplification to the world of small, low wattage tube amps. The Archon's lush distortion and singing clean channel tones are all here in a 25-watt package (switchable to 13 watts via the back panel). The Archon 25's wattage makes the amp easier to push to optimum performance - tube amps sound best when pushed a little - and it gets there at a lower volume, which is a huge benefit not only at home, but also in the studio and on the stage. Recording with an amp at lower volumes will give you a cleaner signal and a truer tone, and on the stage, the soundman will thank you for not blowing out the other members of the band.

The Archon 25 features Volume, Treble, Middle, and Bass controls for each channel. There is also a Master Volume control for each channel and global Depth and Presence for added control. The Archon's 6L6/EL34 tube option is replaced here with 5881's, which offer extended high end while maintaining the Archon's signature crunch.

Bottom line, the Archon 25 keeps all the tone and flexibility of the Archon family intact, is a little more forgiving than its 100W and 50W big brothers, and won't break your back every time you load in for a gig.

I have not had hands on with the 100 or 50 watt heads..... But I can guess the 100 is where its at.... Speaking for the 25... The cab is thin MDF.... The front baffle has a near 1/4 inch open gap across the top of it..... It is merely assembled in the USA, so you do the math..... The controls weren't very responsive at all...... It could have been an ok amp if it was done right.... Waaaayyyyy over priced.... Amps in this range are done well inside and out..... Or expected to be... The whole line is over priced IMHO ..... It would be cool if it were more of a budget amp..... Or if it were done right at the same price.... Not as is....... Sound, kinda vanilla....Still ok .... Nice fluid sustain, bright switches actually worked well for the channel character.... Easy to dig into the power amp for a more Brit type sound.. I returned it... Beyond the aforementioned, it was seemingly having a rough break in or developing future issues..... If it were about half price, yeah, go for it.... Not as is....

.I received mine today so only about 4 hours of play on it as of now. There's plenty of break in time to go. Taste is subjective, that's a good place to start. But... A t75 in a 20 watt semi open back combo. Keeping it real simple.... That's not for me on a few different levels...... Buying a replacement speaker right now. Use your cab of choice and the change is dramatic in a good way. The pre tubes are JJs so that's as vanilla as you can get... Again all subjective..... BUT...... it is a pretty darn decent amp with a lot of potential and very little effort or investment to get to be the tone in your head. Kinda like a blank canvas I guess... Keep in mind it is a 25 watt combo..... And its just breaking in as well. Every control is simple and functional as well as effective. Other than a lead boost it needs no help from pedals at all. It holds its own. Articulate, tight , real tight yet a little loose at the same time. That's a great feel. My take so far is that its a solid amp in every way. Again don't forget what it is . A small combo. And there's only a couple of things that can touch it in the price range. With that said I suggest holding out for a deal for I believe its a little bit over priced. Not hugely but it is IMHO... It can do what the big boys do at lower volumes. Decent tone . Ample gain. I decided to keep it. And trust it will be around trouble free for many years to come.
