I've been using these mics for, I don't know, maybe 15 or 20 years. My Shure 58's stay in the bag. I own 6 of these along with 5 Shures and 3 Audio-Technica's. I only use my PV's. These are very good mics. Solid, durable and impeccable sound reproduction. As good as anything I've heard despite the cost. Buy 'em.

.I bought two of these a while back to supplement a couple of Shure SM58S mics I had. I finally got a chance to use them along side the two Shures and the only, and I mean only, difference I could tell was the price tag. Unlike so many mics these days, these Peaveys come with cables, albiet basics, but I now have to wonder why I payed over $100 each for the Shures.

.I have owned this mic, and they sound OK, for the price. But they are not as good as an SM58 and not at all as durable as the SM's... the grill got split open. It's ok for a non-professional use, and for the price, its quite good. For professional use, i think Sennheiser evolution series are better than Shure SM's.

.I am sold on Peavey products for small venue/club/church use and have been for over 30 years. When I purchased an Escort 2000 PA system five years ago [which is still cranking it out after all this time and still sounds as good as the day I bought it], it came with 1 microphone--the PVi earlier version of this mic, since then I've purchased one of these mics and plan to purchase 3 more eventually to have a full set for my system.
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.This is a very good mic. I compared it with a friend's shures and it was just as good!! It sounds very natural and it's simply great. It's good if you are looking for one to start out or just adding another mic to your collection.
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.excellent purchase! I have one and plan on purchasing more. It has similar sound characteristics of the Sure SM58, but waaaay cheaper. Also seems to be as durable!solid metal! They come with free cables too......but they are a hit or miss.....I got a good one with the PVi2 and a cheapy with my PV3 (hypercardiod....not nearly as clear sounding BTW).....buy one! It wont Dissapoint unless your looking for a "natural" sounding mic....like the sennheisers tend to be. Like I said, you want a SM58? Then get one of these instead! or get one of each and see for yourself......
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.Have been in bands, karaoke dj and performing for years, first Peavey mic bought over 20 years ago and still going strong. I like the weight of it feels substantial, sound is very good and price great!
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.Well I was so happy with the 1st PVi2 I received that I picked up a second one. Opened up the package and it did not work. Most likely a bad switch or wire but it shouldn't have made it past quality control. I never have had a single issue with made in USA Peavey Equipment. The PVi2's are Chinese.

The silver lining is that Custom Guitars Friend sent a replacement very fast and it works very nicely. Good service out of MF and I know anyone (Peavey) can have a bad day so I still would buy another if I need a 3rd Mic. I would give them 4&1/2 stars but that wasn't an option.
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.I bought this mic so that I would not have to share germs with/from others on stage. I needed something that could be used as a direct replacement for the SM58's we use in Church on stage. The sound quality is good and so far none can tell the difference in sound from the SM58's we use. I really can't speak to it's durability yet since I have only used it twice but it feels very solid, and the switch operates smoothly. If it is like the other Peavey products I own it should last a lifetime. Custom Guitars Friend got it to me in a few days, very good service!
Peavey PVi 2 Dynamic Microphone
.I've been a professional, gigging musician for the past 15 years, and also ran live sound (in a nightclub) for a few years. Several of my mics were stolen, so I needed to replace at least the dynamic vocal mics asap. I like Peavey stuff and have used it for many years. I contacted the company and they pointed me in the direction of the PVi2. It has a frequency response of 50Hz to 16000 Hz, better than the slightly cheaper PVi100 at 80Hz to 12000 Hz.

Most importantly, real-life performance results from the first 2 gigs using them:
(PA System: Peavey XR600F mixer amp, Peavey PR 15 passive speakers)
-Warm, clear, detailed sound on vocals from the PVi2 mics (3 of them). I've used tons of Shure SM58's in the past, AKG, Electro Voice, you name it. The PVi2 sounded favorable in comparison. Less mid-forward than the SM58, which contributed to the warmness. Nice, open-sounding top end.
-THE MOST AMAZING PART: This simple PA setup doesn't use any compression or outboard gear: only a little reverb from the mixer amp. These mics seemed to sound compressed on vocals on their own. They resisted proximity effect more than any mic I've ever used on vocals, and did not distort even on the loudest vocalist of the evening!
-2 of our opening acts have some of the toughest voices that I have ever worked with to mix. One gets very loud, and the other has quite a nasal tone (folk music, amazing songwriter). I did absolutely no corrective EQ on either performer, and they both sounded the warmest and most pleasing that I have every heard them, on any system.

In short, I don't know what's going on with these mics, but I may order several more to have on hand for when then get discontinued. For the price, they're a steal, but I would use them over a SM58 every time based on their performance. Peavey has it figured out with this mic!
