I had been looking for great reliable acoustic string, and I gotta tell ya, I was using daddrario strings but was not to happy. I tried these Martin strings and I heard a great quality sound coming out of my Ibanez acoustic/electric guitar and I don't have to change them as often! Gotta love that. Hope this helps you decide what you need to do. As we say in Texas... asta la vista baby! Seriously, good luck!

.I got my Martin D-28 directly out of the hot little hands of Rich Williams of Kansas. I was so impressed by the action, feel, quietness (very little "screech") and bright, ringing tone of the strings (It's the bronze) that I badgered Richard for the brand and type. He would not answer, nor would he give me the "Roadies Name." (His) The sixth and fifth strings had a gold color I'd never seen before. I even asked Dick Boak what was on D-28's when they left the factory... I went to my standard Martin Marquis Bronze... Then I finally found an old acoustic player at my local Music store who knew instantly what I was describing, and VIOLA! You don't need any other strings, not even if you have multiple acoustics with different tunings, as I do. MY guitars won't have anything else on them!

They don't sound like rubber band like some .010s do. I think it's because they're bronze, not phosphor/bronze. I'm gonna stay with these unless some unknown problem arises...

.I have been using exclusively martin strings for a few years now. Overall I've had good experiences with the lifespan series. I have however notice something odd about them recently. I had restrung a little martin lx1e and taylor koa 326ce-K FLTD with two sets of 80/20 lifespan coated strings three weeks ago to compare the sounds of both guitars. Tonally they are where I expected them to be, but oddly after playing either guitar, my fretting fingers are streaked in a brown tarnish. At first I thought I had broken a few blood vessels and it dried under the calluses, but the tarnish washed right off my fingers. I then recall others complaining about this in other reviews (unfortunately I can't locate said reviews now). I can trace these particular sets to being purchased from the sister box store of musician's friend (I won't name the place, but I'm sure you all know which one I'm referring to) approximately a year ago (I stock pile strings). I don't know if this tarnish issue is the result of the set of strings I got or if it was me using them a year after the fact, however none of my other martin strings had this issue before. Again, tonally they are fine, but if you don't want brown fingers after playing, be warned.
On a side not, martin won't be using cleartone to coat their strings going forward as announced at NAMM, so this might all be an issue of the past.

.I am not a basic acoustic player myself. I use one for practice and working out ideas.
Problem is always the strings are just so thick and impossible to really play not having a ham fisted brutal attack. These strings are light like my electric gauge and they sound like the best recorded acoustic guitar you have ever heard.
The fact that they are coated and last a long time is just further plus, plus, plus. Best strings I have ever used on an acoustic has that cool vibrant bright sound you love on fav recordings. The 10s are heaven for my ability to play acoustic.

.I have tried many different strings and these are by far the best I've used. After playing 50+ yrs.I pretty much tried them all and like these the best on my Martin OOO.Having played electric guitar mostly,I had a hard time finding the right gauge string for my acoustic as I still play 2-3 hrs. every day.Instead of changing strings every 2-3 weeks, these last 3+ months depending how hard I play. They're better than Elixers!
