My Martin HD28 finally arrived in all its glory and splendor. Within a day I noticed some fret buzz, so I proceeded to raise the bridge a tad and remove the factory strings (replacing them with D'Addario phospher bronze lights). Big mistake!! Now mind you, the D'Addarios sound great on my Yamaha DW-4S and my Epiphone EJ200, but my Martin lost a ton of volume and STILL had a bit of fret buzz. Needless to say I was a bit nervous as I tried in vain to get the loud, punchy sound out of my Martin. I did some research on Martin's web site and found out dreadnaught-sized acoustic guitars were shipped with medium gauge strings. On a whim, I bought a set of medium gauge phosper bronze Martin Bluegrass SP's, and WHAM! Holy Mother Of Pearl, my HD28 sung out with more clarity and volume than I've ever heard out of any acoustic guitar!
