Product Description

Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings are treated with Cleartone proprietary technology to bring you the longest possible string life without sacrificing tone or natural feel.

Martin SP Lifespan strings are designed to repel the oils and dirt that can deaden strings. All six strings are treated to preserve the natural Martin SP sound and feel that players prefer.

80/20 Bronze is popular string material for stage and studio performance due to its brilliant tone out of the box. The tone will mellow quickly into a warm sound.

MSP6100 strings are recommended for country and bluegrass styes.

Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings are used by Martin on the majority of its production guitars. Martin SP Lifespan with Cleartone proprietary technology provides a rich full tone with the added benefit of longer life. The Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings start with ultra-pure steel SP core wire, which delivers a perfect combination of tensile strength and response. Bronze electroplating is added to protect and enhance the core wire, which is complemented by the wraps that bring the full, rich tone players demand. Finally, Martin' custom wrapping technique ensures tight tolerances to gauge and tension. Martin SP sets are sent to Everly Music for treatment with Cleartone proprietary technology. This treatment provides the thinnest protection in the industry and does not flake or peel. The treatment protects both the wrap and core wire by repelling dirt and grime that can deaden a string. Wrap windings remain open and uncovered to permit natural vibration patterns. The Cleartone proprietary technology preserves and protects the natural rich full tone of the Martin SP strings.

I have been using Elixir strings since 2005 on my Taylor. The Martin SP Lifespan strings just blew them away. I was so impressed with these strings. From now on, Martin SP Lifespan!

.Great action, tone and resonance with these strings. Once installed they maintain tuning and have even responsiveness. they all ring true and sustain vibrations well.

.After being away from playing for a while, I came back. I was told my 40 yr old guitar needed replacing, but instead I purchased a set of these strings. What a difference a new set of strings makes. These strings have a nice warm sound but with a bit of brightness in the higher "E" which is where it's needed.
That was 6 months ago. My old guitar sounds like new even after practicing everyday and jamming at least twice a week. The lower "E" string does get a little sticky, until I cleaned the strings. Its so nice to be able to play again on my old friend. These strings are easy on older fingers too.

.I've tried several of the high-end strings, but I really love the Martin LifeSpan SP.

.I typically use the Lifespan Phosphor Bronze but wanted to give these a try. I use a Takamine EF that tends to overemphasize the high frequencies on the B and E strings. These strings calmed down the brightness and gave it a more balanced sound. Exactly what I was looking to do. I think with these, you lose some of the harmonic overtones of the PB strings, but I like the simpler, woody tones of the 80/20's. The only negative thing I can say about them is that they have a slight sticky feel on my fingers- mostly on the low E and A strings. Don't know if it's the coating or what. I'm assuming that will go away after I play them more. Overall, I really like these strings.

.I have used Martin MSP7100 Lifespan(Phosphor Bronze), prior on my Martin Guitar and wanted to try the MSP6100 Lifespan(Bronze), since I have used regular Martin Bronze strings in the past and enjoyed the tone. I heard a considerable difference in tone. Very bright sounding with lower lows and higher highs. I use a .38mm pick and for some reason the bronze work well with the thin pick. I will buy more of the MSP6100 Martin Lifespan SP.

.These started out having a crisp balanced tone with a strong sustaining bass. Unfortunately this lasted a couple weeks and in no time became muted and dull. And these stings don't look new when you put them on, a dull brown rather than the usual bright bronze color. If the new tone would last longer, they'd be worth it. I'd rather use the straight Martin SPs

.First off, let me say that the reason I mark these as "strong" is because it's near-impossible to snap a Martin string. That's about the only good part about this, and you could get that out of a set of uncoated SPs.

I bought these as a replacement for Elixir Nanowebs on my new Taylor 214ce because Elixirs sounded thin to me and I've been a loyal Martin string user for a good two years. The first three or four hours they were on the guitar, I was hopeful; ecstatic, even. They weren't as "new-sounding" as Elixirs, but they definitely brought out the wood tones of my guitar and gave it a good low end Elixirs just don't seem to offer.

I cased up the guitar and went to bed feeling honky dory, then woke up the next day to strum a G chord and find that the strings sounded like a 2-month old pair of uncoated SPs!

These now two-day old strings not only sound bad, but the coating makes them FEEL two months old. The strings do feel a bit "sticky", but I was willing to compromise a little ease of play for long-lasting tone. HOWEVER, waking up to an overpriced set of day-old dead strings has me completely turned off to these.

Stick with uncoated SPs. Tone actually lasts LONGER with them, in my experience.

.If you love the classic sound of Martin 80/20 strings, these deliver! They feel good, look good, and sound great, and they last very long, at least 2 months of daily playing. They are a bit pricy and I would like to see them drop to the price level of Elixit strings, however they DO deliver the classic Martin sound, and they DO last MUCH longer than ordinary Martin 80/20 strings. Also they do not peel or look bad like Elixirs do, even after extensive hammering of the strings! Try them! Because if you love Martin 80/20 strings, you'll love these Martin Lifespan 80/20's for sure!
