I've tried many strings over the years on my acoustic 12's and I still remember the 1st time using these Martins! They tuned up quick, easy and stayed that way! The sound and volume, whether finger-pickin' or straight, is superb. I really enjoy their feel; they're smooth and soft on the fingers and provide the right amount of tone-mix. I've yet to have one break and I have had a set on one of my guitars for over 6 months (that I play daily). Get a couple of sets right off - you'll be happy with um'....guaranteed!

.Who doesn't think their 12 string would be better served with less tension on the neck? Bang, here's your strings. Bonus, easier on your fingers, too.

.I have played a custom-made Bozo 12-string for over 30 years. I put a Fishman active bridge pickup in it to take it public after a few years of hoarding it to myself. I've played a lot of places in the last 30 years, and it is very common for people to comment on the incredible sound of my guitar. I've used Martin Silk & Steel strings exclusively on this guitar because I find the soft side of the dynamic range and clarity impossible to match with all-metal strings. I typically use finger picks and love to highlight the the high string in the octave pairs with my thumb pick on gentler material. When volume is needed, though, these strings can put it out full and rich. If you've never experienced the verstility of silk & steel on a 12 string, you really are missing something.

.I found a late 1960s Yamaha 12-string acoustic at a garage for a ridiculous price, because it had a terrible belly, caused by light construction, general mistreatment, pressure from heavy strings, and poor humidification. I measured the belly-bump = almost a full inch! I cleaned it up, and began a slow process of re-humidification that lasted almost 8 months. I used home-made Zip-Lock snack bags with holes made by a hand punch, and new synthetic sponge material cut to fit. I wet the sponge and squeezed it out till the water wasn't dripping, slipped the packet into the sound hole and used painters tape to hold an old CD over the sound hole, then out it into a good case with tight-fitting lid. Checked every day and re-wet the sponge every day. After just a week, I found a big difference in the belly! I kept it up for 3 months before the top was flat. I did it for a long time longer, just to make sure it would be stable. When it was time to re-string, I had to consider using strings with less pressure. I remembered my early days, during the Folk Music Scare of the mid-1960s. I didn't know anyone still made Silk and Steel strings anymore! MF and Martin strings to the rescue! This Yamaha is rather delicately built for a 12-string = thin spruce top, thin bridge plate, and braces that are narrow and well-shaved. It has a deep booming sound when you thump the bridge. I've had the Martin strings on it for 3 months and it still plays and sounds great... so far, no sign of that belly bulge returning = I am also keep it well-humidified and it lives in that good case with those home-made humidifiers...

.These strings are the ones I used most frequently on my Fishman-equipped Martin D12-1 (12-string) after I bought it new in 1996. The silk and steel helps with ease of playing, a definite asset when playing barre chords on a 12-string in standard tuning. The strings yield a sweet, mellow tone which impressed my sound guy who was initially skeptical about 12-strings. These strings have been a trusted friend for years.

.This was my first order from Custom Guitar's Friend (2 sets of guitar strings). When I had a problem with the order(shipped promptly, but apparently misplaced en route by UPS), Custom Guitar's Friend customer service not only responded to my email inquiry right away, but sent out replacement strings with no questions asked.

.Great sound and easy on the fingers.

.12 string guitars are the "king" of guitars, and most players can NOT master them. One of the major problems in the vice grip left hand that is required to fight against the push back from the 12. I have been playing these for decades, and my all time favorite is the Guild F-212. I have one made in 1966 and have used it extensively. The secret is the strings. The light tension of these does the job nicely. They don't last a really long time. Once the silver plating begins to wear off, the tone and volume begin to head South. If you are having trouble with the action of your 12, try these-use "extra light gauge".
