There is just something about Martin guitars with Martin strings. The strings are a very important component of the Martin sound. I have tried Elixers on my Martin HD-28 but they are just to bright and tinny on my Martin. Don't get me wrong, I use Elixers on my Alvarez 12 string and '70's Ovation 6 string but not the Martin.I had Elixer's on my Martin for less than 24 hours. I cut them off the next day. Too bright and tinny. These Martin/Cleartones are perfect for a Martin. Brighter than standard SP's but still captures the deep dark tones and they work even better than the regular SP's for recording.

.I just got 2 sets of these which I put on both of my Fender Acoustics and they sound much better than the over priced Elixirs. Plus they last just as long ! Now I have to go and get some more now for both, my Epiphone DR-100 and Mitchell MD-100 as well. I finally found the strings I need for my acoustics. Sure they're a tad pricier than regular strings but, they're worth it !

.Great strings. I guess my only compliant, and its not really a compliant as much as a preference, is that they are still heavy on the squeaks sliding down the strings. I think that's the only advantage the elixirs have but these strings are stronger, more consistent and don't go dead as fast as the elixirs.

.I've always been a Martin strings fan, thought I'd try these cleartone coated Martins. They really made my acoustics louder. They are not slippery like Elixers nor do they feel like normal strings. I would have to say more like nickle plated, even unwound. Maybe I just need to break them in and get used to them. I bought 4 sets so I'm good until I get the itch to buy some more strings. There is nothing wrong with them, they are just not for me.
