Product Description

Gauges 09-10-13-20-09.

Martin V700 Light Vega Banjo Strings employ a nickel/steel alloy for tonal qualities which are best suited to accent the strong resonating tendencies of most banjos. The name Vega has been synonymous with fine quality-crafted banjos since 1889. Martin's combined experience in instrument making, string winding, and comprehensive sound testing make Vega strings the best choice for your banjo. All raw materials are of premium quality to assure brilliance, clarity, and longevity. In addition, Vega strings are highly resistant to corrosion. The smooth consistency of the wrap wires makes them ideal for all styles of banjo playing, whether it be the short, snappy plectrum style; the quick, flowing Scruggs style; or the rhythm driving frailing technique.

I've been using these strings for 10 years playing almost everyday and in that time I have only broken one of these strings. My last set stayed on my banjo for two years and lasted through 2 CD's hundreds if not over a thousand hours of playing, and several competitions. Since only the D string is wound they don't really go dead and the tone will last almost indefinitely.

I had absolutely no problems with rusting out of the strings playing in humid, warm, and cold environments.

With some of the genre's I play I bend these strings a full step above normal pitch as well as use D-tuners with them.

The tone is great! I've used other brands and I like the tone of these best. They pitch bend easily, are slick for fast action, and you can't wear them out. Definitely recommend these.

.Lights are the string of choice! Not everyone stocks banjo strings.

.I've never had these strings or any banjo strings snap on me. There might be a problem with this other reviewer's banjo or stringing technique.
I use D'addario on my electric, but I love these Martins. They sound phenomenal. I've only tried one other brand, but I am sticking with Martins from now on. Thinking about trying Earl's signature strings. Just wish the string length was longer cause it makes it hard to pull the wrap tight on some of the strings.

.the middle g string snapped for no apparent reason while i was putting on the low d, then the twisted end part of the g string snapped while i was tuning it up. i have more guitar-stringing experience than banjo but this is ridiculous. maybe light gauge banjo strings are just a bad idea.
