The sound is full bodied and amazing. The base is true as is the treble. I?ve waited a long time for a guitar this. I?ve owned Yamahas, Ovations, Gibsons ? many guitars over the forty or so years I?ve been playing and this one does make your head turn when you hear it. I pulled it out and played it for the first time in front of my wife and she couldn?t believe what I paid for it. I was going to buy a Taylor 214CE but after looking around I could not find a better guitar for the money.

.Satin finish - if you prefer gloss, look at the Martin MMV for a couple hundred $ more. This is basically the same model, just stripped down and priced appropriately. Lack of gloss allows this thing to vibrate the wooden floors in my house! Rosewood fingerboard, bridge, back and sides, solid spruce top, chrome tuners. This is one of the most powerful acoustics I've ever played. Loud, punchy bass, clear top-end and balanced mids. It's not dark at all. Although my $4K D-41 is a much prettier looking and sounding guitar, it's not as powerful as this. This is a Bluegrass canon, and suits a lot of different styles. The quality is unmatched. You will not go wrong with this guitar, and I highly recommend it over Martin's cheaper Stratabond guitars.

.Why Oh Why so cheap??? I could not believe this. I had this guitar for a couple of months now and it just plays better.... You will not get a better deal than this... All solid rosewood back and sides and solid sitka spruce top... UNBELIEVABLE sound... It has a satin finish, not glossy and flashy.... but the sound is more honest... you could feel the whole body resonate as you strum it... I would choose sound over aesthetics anytime of the day, and satin or high gloss is really a taste issue... some like it satin and not too glossy... and the less lacquer you put on your guitar, the more resonant it is... neck and action is perfect... I love this guitar... it has the tone quality of a 500 and above Taylor but the price is ridiculously amazing... and yes, IT"S A MARTIN...other guitar companies have their all-solid wood acoustics built in China to accommodate this price range... but this guitar is yes, built in USA... you won't regret it.... if you are a tone snob in a tight budget buy this now before it runs out....

.I traded my Martin DRS on this model. The sapele on the DRS was tight and wee bit harsh. The DSR is totally different with the rosewood back & sides it gives a Martin warmth and detail. The Top is satin and it seems to add to the full bottom end with out being boomy.
The tone is blended and full..Martin Style..
This is a keeper....fun to play and the rosewood neck is wonderful and easy on my old hands.

.I was in the market for an acoustic guitar. I'm really picky about my musical equipment, so I researched online for the absolute best guitar I could get for $1,000 and under. Sure enough, I found it. This guitar has all solid premium wood, (sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides), and is made in America. It sounds so good, that I tried the d-28 and this guitar, and I SWEAR this one sounds better. For strings, I recommend martin sp phosphor bronze. I highly recommend this guitar!

.I purchased this guitar during the Labor Day weekend sale. The guitar does not have the Martin aesthetic bells and whistles however there is no shortage of Martin sound or playability. I immediately took this guitar to a Martin Tech for a setup. After completion of the set up and putting SP Custom lights on this instrument it is by far the best playing and sounding acoustic guitar for the money hands down!!!!!

.I have had this guitar for some months now and quite honestly it is the only one I play. I have a Gibson Hummingbird, a Martin HD28 & a Taylor 210e and none of these guitars can match the playability, volume and full range of tone. Also, when I play alot, I tend to sweat on my forearm, my more expensive guitars that have a high gloss finish are really hard to maintain. With my DRS' satin finish, I just wipe down the guitar with a soft dampened cloth then gently dry off. Finally, the price!? Half as much as I paid for my Gibson & Martin and worth its weight in gold!!!

.I am still learning to play and this guitar is the absolute best guitar for the money, and I checked thoroughly, believe me. I have spent many hours enjoying the rich bass and overall highest sound quality for the money. Easy to play. Buy a new one, preferably playing it before you purchase, but it should not make too much difference. Highly recommend.

.this guitar is nice and got to me fast. i do however have some issues with this model. the back and sides are so thin it freakes me out. i think anything can puncture it. the back is like a piece of panelling but thinner, same with the sides. dont get me wrong this is a cool guitar, just wish there was a little more to it. and it's a little buzzy.
