I already own a half dozen ukes, even one from Hawaii, and this is the pick of the litter. It sounded great and played great right out of the box. I used it with confidence on a gig just two days after I got it. Had several positive comments on it from the listeners and from the other musicians. Just couldn't be more pleased. Take it from old Uncle Willie; this one's a keeper!
Beautiful! When you pull it out of the case, you can smell the Koa wood. Quite pleasant
This is the "made in Mexico" Martin. I can't imagine it being any better than a Nazareth, PA model. The Mexicans have been building nylon stringed instruments for a long time; they definitely have the knack.
You won't find a better sounding, louder or prettier ukulele for this price.

.This is a solid koa ukulele - not mahogany. Koa produces a bright, crisp, lilting sound and mahogany a warm, darker sound. My Martin T1K sings right up the fretboard producing clear, shimmering notes with excellent intonation. No doubt the compensated saddle is a contributing factor to the intonation, however I did make some adjustments to the out-of-the-box set up. Nicely suited for arpeggiated playing or lovely Hawaiian songs due to the clarity of the individual notes. The rounded over edges of the instrument are a nice feature making it comfortable to play for long periods of time - no indentations in the forearms. The 1 5/8" wide fretboard provides ample room for chording. One could easily pay twice the price for a solid koa ukulele and not necessarly get a better sounding and playing instrument. The Martin T1K mde in Mexico is a superb deal. Now why doesn't Martin produce this in a soprano version ?

.Beautiful wood, good workmanship, and nice gig bag, action was a bit high but that could be easily adjusted. The real problem is the tone--in my opinion, totally lacking warmth. Tried several brands of my favoite "go-to" strings and this ukulele just sounded harsh on them all. Really wanted this to work out but finally gave up and restrung it with a new set of Martin M-620s as originally supplied and returned the ukulele. I would always prefer to buy an acoustic instrument where I could try it out and compare to other items in the store but could not find one of these locally. Next best thing is Custom Guitars Friend with their 45 day customer satisfaction return policy. Custom Guitars Friend Customer Service was excellent as always.

.This is a quality instrument. The build and wood selection are excellent. Very cleanly put together. Tone is subjective, obviously, but I really like the tone. It sounds more full than some other koa ukes to my ears.
The price is most definitely reasonable for such a well made instrument.

Super fast shipping, Love the item. Sound is excellent. Appreciate the tracking set up.

.Instrument has strong company name, but tone quality missing
Martin T1K Koa Tenor Ukulele Natural
.Well constructed. Beautiful finish . Sounds rich and full.

.Given the price, I was not very impressed with its appearance and the tone quality was not what I expected in a Martin instrument.
Martin T1K Koa Tenor Ukulele Natural
.Beautiful solid koa wood. Neck, frets, strings finish superb. The tuners--meh. The strings settle down nicely with a little gentle tugging over a couple hours. Nice gig bag, but this uke really needs a hard case. The finish is a slightly slick, but not super shiny. It shows off the curvy splendid koa so nicely. I've read some people don't like the tone. My personal opinion is that it's wonderful. I've played this baby about 8 hours over the last 2 days, and either I'm getting better, it's getting better, or both. My family is not just tolerating, but encouraging me to play more songs. It goes with the human voice so well. Perfect. Maybe there is a custom $2000 uke out there that's better. It might have better tuners, yes. It might be gussied up with tons of mop, purfling, gold plated this and that and a bullet-proof case. But I can't imagine a uke that says "real" better that this one at anything like this price. I don't write reviews unless something is great or stinks. This is a real, real pleasure. Nothing in this world is perfect, but for this price, it's as good as it gets. IMOO.
Martin T1K Koa Tenor Ukulele Natural
.I have played guitar and mandolin most of my life and own several Martin instruments. This uke is not worth what I paid. I shipped it back the same day I received it. I expected more quality from Martin, Mexican made or not.
