Personally I have owned a 1979 PS10, 1992 PS10, 1995 PS10LTD, 1995 PS 10 II, and a 2004 IC400. Now I have a PS120 and could not be happier with it. It was set up right out of the box. The frets were filed and polished and everything playing and sounding good. Visually, the guitar is stunning and flawless. There will always be guitar snobs who claim to know it all and will slam this latest version of the PS10 but for the money, I would prefer to have this one if I lived on a budget. I also plumb lined the control knobs and verified that they are indeed in a straight line. LOL If you add some hardware upgrades like the bridge and tuners, then you can make this guitar into a real competitor which is what I'm doing.

Right away I noticed the control knobs were not in a straight line. Nut not slotted deep enough. Playing a bar f chord was nearly impossible. A half dozen frets were to high. Leveled and crowned entire fret board. Cut nut slots deeper. Plays much better now. Should have used the same bridge setup as the Destroyer in my opinion. Sounds like a mahogany guitar should. Pickups are great and are real USA made. I have since installed chrome nickel plated pickup covers and pearloid tuners to give it a little more classy look.

After waiting for months for this model to be in stock, I ordered one. When I first got it, my first reaction was to send it back because of poor quality fretboard inlays and cheesy plastic "chrome" pickguard and truss rod cover. For the price, I did not expect mother-of-pearl or abalone inlays, but I did expect something that looked realistic. Having said that, the body binding does look good, and the guitar plays and sounds good. That's why I decided to keep it. I've also wanted an Iceman for quite some time. Another issue which is confounding is that the guitar is not stobe tuned! I have never bought a new guitar in this price range that did not have the bridge set up. It seems like Ibanez was rushing to get these out the door. Additionally, there was no case available from this dealer and I had to find one somewhere else. It's bad enough that a guitar of this price range does not come with a case, but worse that I have to go search the internet for one. In the end, the case, bridge and plastic chrome are all fix-able for not too much money. I decided to live with the plastic fretboard inlays because I didn't spend thousands on the guitar. I also saved some money because the guitar came with Seymour Duncan pickups. I usually swap out stock pickups for SD's on most of my axes.
