The SR656 is a handsome 6-string bass designed with the working musician in mind. At the heart of this bass is an Ash body, chosen for its bright, articulate tone and long sustain. The SR656 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR6 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. An Accu-cast B306 bridge provides excellent string vibration transfer and precise intonation.

For electronics, the SR656 features Nordstrand CND pickups in a classic P/J combination, a versatile setup almost indispensable for the working musician. Specifically designed for Ibanez, these passive pickups deliver a very present tone that easily punches through any mix. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch for precise tone management.

This instrument is incredible. I had wanted to expand my range for a while but had never really played a 6 sting bass. I play in a small church so I'm constantly throwing down low Ds in those old hymns, but I have found myself recently noodling on the high end for some extra ambient effects between songs. I had spent several months researching the best bass that I could afford. Initially I was really wanted the SR506, but it was suggested to me that I pony up the cash for this guy instead. Why? Carey Nordstrand pickups. They're worth it. Incredible tone without any adjustment, but they are incredibly versatile. I play a wide variety of church music and haven't found anything this can not handle.

Bonus: Even the other instrumentalists I play with thought commented how great the bass looks and sounds. When was the last time you got a compliment from your keyboardist?
