Part of the SR Premium line and manufactured in the Ibanez Premium factory, the SR Premium 1405E 5-string electric bass is designed with high-end features while maintaining affordability, making it the new standard for the serious, professional musician.
The SR Premium 1405E boasts a smoothly contoured exotic & beautiful Flame maple top on a large mahogany body for gorgeous looks and powerful, aggressive tone. Its 5pc SR5 wenge/bubinga neck is also bolstered with KTS titanium reinforcement rods inside, and finished with a rosewood fretboard. The Mono-Rail IV bridge is the ultimate in string isolation for bass. Each saddle is independently and securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer and no interference. One screw controls the height of each saddle for easy adjustment.
Nordstrand Big Single pickups provide the clear sound characteristic of single coil pickups with an aggressive edge. The EQB-IIISC 3-band EQ with mid-frequency select (250Hz or 600Hz) and EQ-bypass switches gives you a world of tonal possibilities, making the SR Premium 1405E as versatile as it is good-looking.

I love the way this bass plays, but unfortunately, I didn't like the Nordstrand pickups from the factory. They were extremely noisy (very hot single coils) and too bright in my opinion. The only way to get rid of the noise was to set the blend to dead center (two pickups cancel the noise), but to work around the brightness, I wanted the blend toward the neck. So, I upgraded the pickups to Bartolini P252J5-B (neck) and P252J5-T (bridge) with a coil tap switch. Now, I absolutely, love this bass. The Bartolinis with the coil tap result in noiseless single coil tone, which have the clarity that the Nordstrands are known for, but a richer, less bright tone, with lots of punch (great for percussive techniques). Without the coil tap, the Bartolinis provide a smooth, fat, dual coil tone. The bass plays great and looks great. Now, with the Bartolini pickups, it also sounds great and I can take advantage of a broader range of tones without the noise.

.The bass is a 5, condition it arrived in was a 4. (loose hardware, and a tone knob didn't work) Anyways, the bass just sounds amazing. Even across all tones, plays easy, just a joy to jam on.

.A gift from my awesome sons.
Went in looking for a Fender Jazz to go with my 87 American Standard Strat. Demo'd all the major brands at a big box store in the 1K to 2K range. This 5 String was up higher on the wall but within 30 seconds of comparing it was clear that for me, the SR1405TE 5-String Electric Bass Guitar was simply better in all measurable categories. Nostalgia may have been pulling for a Fender, but my ears, hands, and brain went with this Ibanez.
