The PF12MHOPN is Dreadnought body style acoustic with mahogany top, back and sides for a warm, full tone. While the Open Pore Natural finish adds to the guitars natural, subtle aesthetics, it also contributes to the sound of the instrument. Thick, heavy finishes can impede the vibration of a guitar’s body, “choking” the instruments tone and projection. The light, carefully applied natural Open Pore finish permits the wood to transfer sound more freely, optimizing vibration and allowing the guitar to realize it’s full sound potential. The PF12MHOPN also features a tortoise rosette, rosewood fretboard and bridge with Ibanez Advantage bridge pins for improved tuning stability.
Case sold separately.

The guitar is actually better than I expected. Some things you can't see in the pictures are really nice features like the binding and the rosette. The guitar needed a set up really bad and was not playable upon arrival. The strings were almost laying on the frets and the neck had a serious backbow but that was easily fixed. Still, the saddle was too low. Nice that it came with another saddle but that one was way to high so I had to shave it down. I got it dialed in. It doesn't have as good of bass as a solid top guitar but it's priced comparable to some beginner solid top guitars. The highs are crisp and it deffinetley had good sustain. I love the tuners. I've always wanted some open gear tuners. The fit and finish is pretty good. Better than other guitars In its price range and above.

.I don't think this is true mahogany. I believe it to be meranti, also known as asian mahogany. My guitar is a bit darker than the one pictured. It is rough around the edges. Even with all that being said, I really enjoy it. It plays very well and does have a nice mahogany tone to it.The action was just a tad high, but easily remedied with a truss rod adjustment. I fell in love with the look of this "hog top".It has that old martin vibe to it. The imitation waverly tuners hold tune quite well. The advantage bridge pins work well, however they are sonically dead in my opinion. I changed mine with some bone pins and the sustain is very good now. Overall I'm happy with it and would purchase another. If you are a "nit picker", save your money and buy a Martin mahogany top guitar. If you want an inexpensive very good playing guitar that sounds really nice, this is an excellent choice. ; {>
