No toy by any stretch of the imagination, the Ibanez miKro is conforms to the same high standards as all of the GIO series guitars. The GRGM21M features the same high-output Powersound pickups, the same construction, same materials, same set-up and same inspection. In fact, the only difference is its shorter 22.2-inch scale neck, something that makes it perfect for tour buses, songwriting, running scales while downloading and, of course, for young rockers and beginners.

Nice short scale guitar I bought for my 5 year old grand daughter to learn on. Was looking for something small and easy to learn on which meant good action and light strings and consistent tuning. Bought the Dean playmate Avalanche to start and it would not tune bridge issues. Sent it back for a Laguna LE50 and it buzzed big time with fret issues didnt even plug it in returned it. Coughed up a little more for the Ibanez GRG M21 Micro in purple and think I found something I can live with best of the bunch. I heard the mini strat is nice but heavy for a child. The Micro is smaller and light. Shorter scale for small hands but has a thick neck go figure very chunky for me and the wood just seems unfinished and frets chunky as well. Action was really high started lowering a turn on the bridge and buzzing started on the high E so backed off. Strings really bad installed new 9 gauge and much better. Tunes up good tuners better then the others but still lacking. Gonna purchase Carvin tuners they match up perfect for finer tuning. Looks super and sounds great nice pickups and 3 position switch is solid. One tone and one volume knob works great less confusing for beginner. Very nice tone with neck pick up and both together might add. Found something I can work with. If its a keeper will find another neck when she gets bigger. Best of the short scale bunch for a new Chinese instrument but I think this is my last one from China rather go used. I just wanted something new for my kid on Xmas thats not a toy and teach her some serious tunes without the thing wacking out constantly.

.I have been buying, playing, repairing, and setting up electrics for over 40 years and this little beauty exceeds my expectations. I can't put it down. It's so much fun and it's great for metal. The shorter scale means that the strings are a bit looser than a full size guitar so you get a deeper, more powerful tone. I love it. Sure, it needed to be setup properly and tweaked, but you get all the necessary ingredients for an awesome axe: nice maple neck and fingerboard (that's what I wanted), good strong pickups, solid hardware and very nice craftsmanship all around. The metallic purple finish is flawless. Good job Ibanez.

.Purchased this as a Christmas gift for our daughter and it will be her first guitar. I have played for 30 years and have many custom shop guitars as well as built my own. This one is good quality and a great guitar for a beginner. It is a quality built instrument and has a good feel and sound.

.Bought this for my wife, the only con I can find is hard to stay in tune, the fret end are sharp, but intonation is good, no fret buzz, set up was pretty good right out of the box, going to change strings, hope it will cue the staying in tune problem
