Nothing speaks to the passion and pride of Ibanez luthiery more than the Prestige designation. Now the skilled craftsman of the Prestige team have reached back in time to resurrect one of its most requested guitar models of the past two decades. And while true to the original of the early 90’s, today’s Talman brings with it a familiar, yet fresh sound that places it squarely at the crossroads of modern Ibanez innovation and cherished traditional tone.
The TM1730P Prestige is a double cutaway electric, built to deliver the top end glassiness and distinctive “spank” associated with a traditional triple single coil guitar, but also incorporates a number of modern design concepts typically found only on other brands’ “Deluxe” or boutique editions. Factor in Ibanez innovation and superior craftsmanship and you’ve got an instrument that’s second-to-none in quality, tone and performance.
The TM1730P begins with a curvy, traditionally styled Talman Alder body for a strong, full sound with beefy lows and sizzling high end. The Maple “Talman Prestige” 22-fret neck is a traditional “C” shape for that comfortable, familiar feel reminiscent of guitars from the 50’s and 60’s, but its smooth, easily playable Rosewood fretboard is where modern innovation takes over. A distinct Ibanez asset is its flatter fretboard radius—a feature more conducive to the techniques of modern guitarists, as well as being a friendlier surface for slide players. A bone nut helps achieve superior tone and sustain, while still another Ibanez advantage comes from its smooth, contoured Fast Access neck joint, which provides unfettered access to even the highest frets. Hardware includes an ITL-PRO Tremolo bridge for accurate intonation, and Gotoh locking machine heads for absolute tuning stability.
The TM1730P features Seymour Duncan Five-Two true single coil pickups, known for their bright, springy bottom end and smooth, rich top. Duncan’s Five-Two is extremely well balanced and an excellent choice for country, blues, classic rock or hard rock. Run through a 5-way selector switch, this calibrated pickup set includes warm, moderate output single coils in the neck and middle position, matched with a higher output custom bridge pickup to thicken the sound and induce amp distortion. True aficionados will especially appreciate the versatility and responsiveness these pickups offer. The TM1730P comes with its own hardshell case.
No matter what style you’re playing, the TM1730P will deliver the tones you know and love in an instrument that reflects the evolution of the modern player. Includes hardshell case.

I was looking to get either an American Standard or the Talman. I own a Talman Standard and love the guitar so I ordered this guitar knowing I can return it. It is a keeper and plays and sounds like what I need. I have been playing Ibanez guitars for quite awhile. Aiming for the classic guitar style was an interesting change for Ibanez . It proves they can make a guitar that sounds like a traditional single coil instrument and plays like a dream.
