While Talman basses normally have the more common 34” “long-scale” neck, the TMB30 offers a “short-scale” 30” neck. The shorter neck is often preferred by players of smaller stature who find a long-scale instrument to be unwieldy. It is also a favorite of guitarists who double on bass— the shorter scale having a feel closer to that of an electric guitar.
The TMB30 features include a Mahogany body for a warm, punchy tone, a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard, a Standard bridge, and a black pickguard to complete the classic vibe. Electronics consist of an Ibanez Dynamix P neck pickup and a Dynamix J bridge pickup for that rich, vintage sound.

I needed a bass guitar for recording music. I'm not a bassist by any stretch of the imagination, but a guitarist rather. But this bass has been great so far. It shipped and arrived quickly, and after unboxing and tuning it up it was ready to go from the start. It came set up very well, I didn't have to make any adjustments to the action or the intonation. And it's very easy to play, which is a plus if you're like me and have rather small hands. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this bass, especially if you're just starting out.

.Overall, the TMB30 looks and plays really good considering it's just an inexpensive, entry-level, Indonesian made model. As a guitarist needing a bass for my jam room, I'm very pleased with mine.

.Really great right out of the box. Near perfect set-up, plays great, sounds really good. Really great inexpensive shirt scale. Highly recommended.

.This is my personal bass. When I tried it, it was perfect for me and was to fun to play, I decided to buy it because I was very impressed of the sound of the instrument, it was very cool! I play a lot this instrument, buy it if you are a intermediate player.

.Use this at practice and playing out on gigs. Love the 30 inch neck. Makes riffs and runs just effortless. Also have an Ibanez Artcore semi hollow bass with 30 inch neck but the TMB 30 is a harder rocker which is more where my band leans.
Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass Black
.Perfect for people with a shorter wingspan than the 34" scale basses require. The nut width on this beauty is the same as a Precision neck. Short Scale basses usually have the thin Jazz style nut width and I personally find that to be too thin. The TMB30 has some heft to it and can dial in a lot of tones from low growl to punchy or funk slap. This is my versatile do-it-all bass and I have a Hofner Club (30" scale neck) which I love. I bought the TMB30 as a level 2 blemished in ivory. I love the color and I could only find pick scratches on the guard.
Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass Black
.It's not bad for the price. There is not much selection for a shot scale bass, so I did not expect much. The pickups are decent, pots are ok, but it had a bad fret buzz. I checked the setup and the neck had no relief at all which I thought might be the problem. After adjusting the truss rod, to set the proper relief, it got a little better, but still was there. Raising the string height to almost unplayable height, still there. The frets were pretty good and even tried lowering the pickups without luck. I finally gave up and since it did not cost much, I turned this into my project bass. I stripped off the very thick paint on the body and found a very soft wood that is supposed to be mahogany, I guess. No grain to speak up, so I might paint it again instead of trying to stain it. One thing I do like is the wider fretboard and the feel of the neck. I am not a big fan of the looks of the talman, so I am tempted to change the shape of the top of the headstock, since I already re-carved the body to look sleeker. Bottom line is it is a good beginner short scale or project bass.

.I bought this for my niece. She is in a band and plays regularly. However she is petite and this bass suits her size.
