This is a beautiful 4 string bass, however the pick-up would not amplify the "G" string. When the volume is increased to hear it all the other strings became way to loud. I'm sure it was just a defective pick-up but I did return it and I received the no hassel return policy from Custom Guitar's Friends. They were extremely helpful with this process. My hats off to them.

.This bass is beautiful, but it arrived with extremely poor action! I quickly determined the cause to be the saddle was way too high- the neck was perfectly straight. When I removed the saddle to file it down I saw that the strings had cut grooves in the saddle, which is made from a plastic that is too soft.So I replaced the saddle with a piece of Corian and lowered the string height over 1/4" from the factory setting and now it plays and sounds great!

.I've owned several basses but not an acoustic one. After Looking at several brands and models I decided to go with the AB20E. This bass was priced right and I believe it's a great value from a respected manufacturer. As with most acoustic basses played unplugged it lacks the projection needed for playing "out", but works adequately when practicing/rehearsing with my (acoustic) picking pals. Plugged in, it's a totally different animal. The sound is deep and smooth and, with a little tweaking using the built-in EQ you can get it to bite as well. I found it to be very resistant to feedback and have only had to use a sound hole cover once.
When the bass arrived the action was high, on the saddle side. I just took it to my trusty local shop and had it setup. Action was great after that, with no dead frets or uneven string volumes. The onboard tuner sometimes takes a few moments to "wake up", which is probably my worst beef, but is accurate once going. The neck on this bass is not a slim "fast" one, it's acoustic old school, yet very comfortable, smooth and fun to play.
I purchased the black version and it looks terrific. You'd have to pay a LOT more to find one that sounds just a little better plugged or unplugged. For the price you can't beat the looks and sound of this bass.
