Product Description

The Electro Harmonix Nano Bassballs Twin Envelope Filter effects pedal has everything you loved about the original Bassballs in a pocket size. The human vocal-like sound of its two sweeping filters gives bass a strong presence under leads, or a commanding quality when out front. The resonant frequencies are engineered solidly into the full range of the bass guitar's strongest harmonics. Bassballs will respond to every bass note. The sweep is widely variable, and harmonic enrichment is available with the distortion switch.

The Nano Bassballs comes in a small, die-cast case with rounded corners, saving valuable pedalboard space. The footswitch selects your original signal or the filtered signal as the Bassballs output. The range of the filters upward sweep in pitch is set by the interaction of instrument volume and the sensitivity control. Both stronger attacks and higher (clockwise) control settings increase the sweep range. Low volume and low sensitivity settings will create little or no sweep, and Bassballs will only provide a small boost in its lowest frequencies. In its upward position, the fuzz switch introduces additional harmonic enrichment that accentuates the filters action. The sensitivity pot also serves as a volume control for the fuzz, also increasing in the clockwise direction.

This is actually a fun pedal to use. It gives your bass a very spacey sound which is more or less what it should do. The distortion switch gives a little more dirt but if you happen to have a separate distortion box on your board the two make for a great tool for any lead playing. First night I used it on stage I noticed that the random use of this pedal did start to annoy my guitarist... so that just made it more fun. This pedal has vocal like quality that allows me to play the rhythm parts for songs like "man in the box" or other songs that have a voice box in the background. I'm starting to ramble. Put this thing in your rig and just have fun.

.Overall I love it.
If you open the battery cover you'll note two adjustments for frequencies that can be adjusted with a prescion screwdriver.200k and 800k I think. That's really how to tweak the sound on this pedal.
Built like a tank
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.I'm a guitarist who loves all kinds of stompboxes and "out-of-this-world" FX. When I first heard Hoobastank's self-titled record, I constantly wondered how they made certain sounds used in many of the songs... later on, I found out that it was a Bassballs pedal used with a guitar, so I went ahead and bought one.well, turns out that, first off, this thing is built like a tank and it's pretty user- and pedalboard- friendly for its simple and few controls and small size.features-wise, it can deliver some awesome and different FX, if you like that sort of thing. Without the fuzz switch on, it can give arpeggiated chords a really different and interesting texture. with it on, it's got this really out-of-this-world (especially when used with a delay pedal after it), almost synth like sounds, it can give power chords a mouth-harp-y texture. The one downside to it is that it's pretty sensitive on sweet spot settings (10 til 2 o' clock), so if your set up has even the slightest bit of hum/noise, when not playing or at the end of a chord's sustain, it'll get this annoying "ooh" sound.Overall though, the awesome sounds the Bassballs pedal offers makes up for any flaws. it became an integral part of my sound.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.Played an original some 15 years ago. This is close as you'll get to that
sound without plunking down some heavy guac on one. So get this one and hear
what it do.
Easy to use, easy to clean. Will put you into the funk zone real proper-like.
EH does not make junk.
It's worth it.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.I very much enjoy the sound of this pedal. The twin sweeping filters give you a funky vowel-like effect and the distortion adds another cool element to the sound. However, when trying to play in a mix with a band, the thin, somewhat tinny sounding pedal gets lost quickly. Even if you adjust the interior pots to increase the low-mid effect or the high-end effect you end up losing too much of your fundamental frequencies when the pedal is activated to really cut through. You end up sounding so thin that you can't even tell the pedal is active unless you really boost your level somehow.

Overall, this is certainly a unique sound that I have not found elsewhere in another pedal but it just doesn't retain enough bottom to be heard in a mix. You would be better off with something like the MXR M82, it's more versatile and has a wet/dry mix so you can dial in exactly the amount of effect wanted without sacrificing your bass' tones.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.I thought it sounded great at my friends house thru a small amp, but on the gig, without a dry mix control, the sound became too thin and quacky. I wanted a more subtle effect. I think this is for people who want to have an interesting quirky sound. I wanted some FUNK, but without the bottom oomph of the blending of my dry sound, the effect was too gimicky and not enough "push the band" gutsy. This is my two cents. It might be great for you
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.This pedal was good while I worked on it at home, but when I played it live the filters were too strong and didnt let the fuzz cut through, this was a very disappointing time, I have an active bass, but maybe it doesnt work on active basses, the pedal was good, but didnt sound the same live when I turned it up as it did when the volume was at a lower setting.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.i am an open minded bass player to say the least. but i've had this pedal for about 2 years and still can't find a valuable application in a live setting. without the drive, pretty much any sens setting sounds like it COULD work, but live you can barely tell that the effect is on unless you're doing a solo or something. with the drive on, you can turn the sens between 11 and 1 o'clock and it sounds cool when you're playing by yourself, but you can't be heard at all with a full band. to me it sounds like noise caused by poor power supply. using active PU's or on-board EQ's make it worse. it needs a D.I. on the pedal itself. AND if i'm not mistaken, active basses have been around for close to 25 years, perhaps it's time to start making bass pedals w/ pad switches.i give it a 5 for quality because this thing is built like a tank.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.If you're looking for a classic sound like that of a Mutron III or otherwise.... Bassballs probably isn't the filter for you. That being said, the sounds you can get from this little guy are pretty cool. It has it's own sort of punchy metallic edge that's good for clarifying leads or solos when you need too. It's not terribly 'funky', but an interesting effect in it's own right. Turn the distortion off if you want to daisy chain it with anything else, otherwise it overpowers and makes everything sound like mud.As for the pedal itself, it's solid metal and built like a tank.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter Bass Effects Pedal
.I got this pedal for funk and slap bass type stuff, but it doesn't realy work for that. I'm going to save up for a MXR or something else
Not enough control
built well, loud clicky pedal button tho, as with all ehx pedals. It doesn't have the effect quality as other ehx pedals have. When the distortion is on chords or occasional bends fuzz out
if you can get this at a deal get it, but i would rather save up for something better
