Product Description

The Nano Big Muff Pi works and sounds identical in every way to the classic NYC Big Muff Pi. Electro Harmonix took the Big Muff circuit and simply shrunk it without changing its rich sustain and legendary sound.

For over 40 years, the Big Muff Pi has helped define the sound of rock guitar. Three flexible yet powerful controls let you dial in the perfect sound. Crank the Volume to bring on the distortion while the Tone knob focuses on sonic color and the Sustain control unleashes a powerful, silky, singing tone.

Revered by contemporary guitarists and rock legends alike for its rich, creamy, violin-like sustain, everyone wants a piece of the Pi. Now you can have it in the time-honored classic chassis, or the new, compact nano design.

Singing sustain with attitude Crushing distortion Compact, rugged enclosure Adjustable tone True bypass for maximum signal integrity Comes with a 9 Volt battery

I bought this pedal looking for some dark overdrive/fuzz/Jack white kinda tone and got exactly that. This pedal is pretty cool, haven't had any issues with it, once i set it up to get the tone i was looking for, played it for hours non-stop and was really pleased with it. I tried out the regular BM in my local music store and bought this from Custom Guitars Friend hoping it would be the same sound quality in a smaller packaging and i was right.

.I love the sound of the NYC Big Muf Pi, but holy sweet lord that thing is huge. For Christmas I ordered the Little Big Muf Pi, while sounding close, it also sounded thinner. While it was good enough to replace the original on my pedalboard (needed the realestate) there was still something missing for me.

Ordered the nano and was I pleasantly surprised. It sounds really, really close to the normal sized NYC Muf; had the girth, but in a much smaller package. What I didn't realize was how versatile the Muf fuzz is. We all know this pedal as something good for alt rock, classic rock but plugged a humbucker equipped guitar into a Marshall model on my Vox VT15 and BAM! a doom metal-ish tone.

Anyways if you (like me) LOVE that NYC Big Muf Pi tone and need it in a compact enclosure, this is the pedal for you. Forget the imitators, forget the so called "Muf killers" and get the original... shrunken down.

Sorry about the misspelling, apparently reviews aren't allowed the 2 f's. Go figure.

While I have more pedals than I know what to do with, there are always certain ones you hear about more than others. As a result, someone like me will purchase one just to see what the hype is about. Having heard nothing but good things on the BigMuff pedal, I started thinking that I need to get one of these. After watching a video on Youtube that compared the large BigMuff with the NANO. I heard no difference between the larger one over the smaller. Because of this I ordered the small one since it does give you more room on your pedal board. Some of my pedals are much higher in price than this one, but from what I have heard so far none are better when it comes to distortion/overdrive. The reason I use both of those terms is due to what you have the settings on. This thing can get really nasty when gain is turned up along with volume, or just thicken your sound when turned down. In addition the tone control can give you warm to bright sounds. I played this over my Marshall JVM410H half stack and it can get loud enough to shatter windows. When used alone I didn't find any unwanted noise to speak of even when turned up loud. For the quality, sound, and money, I doubt that you could buy a better effects pedal of this type made by any brand.

I had the full size pedal for several years and I bought the nano to make more room on my pedalboard. Upon arrival, I did a thorough comparison between them. Both pedals are capable of the same tones, the only notable difference is that the nano has a little more clarity and presence.

For more cool tones, you should also try using a tube screamer right before the nano.

.This pedal sounds great for recording or playing in the bedroom but it is not so great for live applications. It just does not get loud enough with my amp (Marshall 100 watt) without making it go berserk with buzzing and feedback. Not good feedback, but annoying kind of feedback. It also is very dark sounding in my opinion, not enough presence or something? I have tried every setting I could think of and it just does not work very well with loud volumes. My Visual Sound Angry Fuzz on the other hand is awesome. Clear and Punchy fuzz when super loud with good feedback. I will hold onto this for recording work but not for playing out.

.This pedal is a must have for anyone that loves the sound of the larger units. It sounds spot on to the larger new york city re-issue, but in a much smaller enclosure. very pedal board friendly.

Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal
.I've always wanted one of these and once the Nano version came out I had to try it. This is a great little pedal. It's more than a one trick pony. You can tweak the knobs for a variety of sounds plus the pedal responds differently to how you play and where the guitars volume is set. I love it for that SRC "Blacksheep" sound. Be prepared for some fun.
Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal
.Never had the original, so I can't compare the sound. But this little pedal screams. Huge versatility, and tremendous sound. Pairs great w/ the Mooer Green Mile OD pedal. From what I understand, the BigMuff Pi is one of the more common fuzz pedals of top guitarists across a wide range of rock styles.
