It works like it should, just like with a guitar synth you should play what's appropriate for an organ. A compressor is a good idea to keep levels more even. (at least for chords). I've used it live and you can use one amp for regular guitar and this pedal. Not as versatile as a guitar synth but a lot less trouble. I like it.

.I've played live for 43 years, and have owned 6 other E-H pedals. I bought this because of the mellotron setting. There are no settings in the manual, so you have to go on Youtube to get an inkling. I spoke with E-H twice, and they had no suggestions.

.Playing my Strat through the C9, there was a scratching sound right at the beginning of the plucking of the string. It was something like the sound of a needle going sideways on an LP record. It didn't make any difference if the Click knob was all the way up or all the way off and it occurred on all settings. This makes the C9 not usable. I tried it through two amps and with the Strat tone controls all on and all off. No difference. Also, when playing multiple strings, some will die before others so I would recommend using a compressor with this if you get one that doesn't scratch. I returned the C9 for a refund.

Just one advice: think as a keyboard player: don't strum the strings, use your classical or fingerpicking technique to get the most satisfying sounds from this pedal.

.Since the 60's I have always loved the sound of a Hammond organ with the rotating Leslie speakers. But, try to carry a Hammond around??? Now I can carry my Hammond around with ease !!! The sounds are great and very faithful to the organs being emulated. Nice big Hammond sound and I don't have to learn piano. In the bypass mode I notice no degradation of my guitar tone or articulation. The 'dry' output is a super feature, too. The main thing is its so much fun. I love it !!!

.i play in a cover band with no keyboardist, so this is great for playing keyboard intros and riffs into the songs. As long as you play with keyboard melodies and riffs in mind, and classical or finger picking techniques, it works fine. Sounds are great. it would be great if it had an expression pedal input.

.I was excited about using this product, as the demos showed nice sounds and possibilities. I play a vibraphone with a pickup system. The pedal couldn't handle the peak amplitude and peaks from the vibes, thus it didn't work. The sound was distorted. An input gain control would have helped this, but again this pedal was not designed for the instrument I was using it with.
Great product, just not for my instrument.

.This thing is the most fun toy ever! All those late 60's early 70's organ sounds! Yeah, I suppose the ideal user of this is the guitarist that wants to fake some of these specific keyboards but doesn't want to bother learning keyboard technique. But I also play a little keyboard and something about this has made me wanting to mess around with it. It's certainly more compact than a Roland getup and has a bunch of stuff I happen to like. I think even if you are just looking for novel guitar tones, to get the most from it you will want to adjust your technique a bit to optimize to each sound. Slides, for instance, won't sound like an authentic organ, but in some cases I find sliding has interesting results. Keep in mind they seem to have been perfectionists with respect to mimicking these instruments, in that they fake the vintage machine best when played within the pitch range of the original instruments. A boatload of fun this thing.
