1975 GIBSON LES PAUL DELUXE, MODDED, DUNCAN & ROLAND PICKUPS, SPERZEL LOCKING TUNERS
A main guitar for a local player for a number of years, this guitar started life as a 1975 sunburst Gibson Les Paul Deluxe but over the course of time was modified into a whole new guitar and function form its owner. First of all, the original mini humbuckers were removed, routed and replaced with Seymour Duncan uncovered humbuckers (‘59’s) for a meatier sound. At the same time a phase/out of phase mini toggle was installed for additional versatility. The waffle tuners were replaced with Sperzel locking tuners to increase tuning stability. The final major change was the installation of a Roland MIDI pickup for use with rack gear and synthesizers. Then this guitar was played and played a lot. Used from small to large band gigs and with much electronic effect with the outboard gear used. This player was a staple to our area and he made quite an impact with his choice of playing styles considering the time. Granted, this player was not ever a celebrity, but locally, very respected for his craft.
The guitar itself is a 1975 Les Paul Deluxe three piece Maple Top and 2 piece “sandwich” mahogany bottom body. A 3 piece maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. Chrome hardware and a Nashville bridge. If not for anything else, these guitars were known for their toughness and road worthiness and this one demonstrated that all the way.
This 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, Modded, Electric Guitar is a used item in Good condition. There is significant wear and modification done to this guitar. Cosmetically, the guitar’s cherry sunburst finish shows many surface dings, dents and marks, especially around the outer edges of the body. Some break through the finish in a minor way, others do not break through at all. The back of the body shows the worse of it in terms of belt scratches, much edge wear and finish removal from playing. All binding is intact. We are not sure if the black nut is original or not, but worth mentioning. Drill holes can be seen where the original tuners were. The frets show wear and this guitar has been refretted, but the wear is general and no major indents on the frets. Good amount of life left on them. Finally, the knobs, bridge, pickup switch tip (cracked), and the pickguard are most likely original based on info provided from the owner. You will receive this item well-packed in a gig bag but without the original case, packaging and paperwork. Please contact this seller for additional information.
