Product Description

Set of 3 guitar picks made from a damaged cymbal. My version of the Jazz III style pick.

As with some of the stuff I make, I always try to re-purpose old unusable junk and make it into something that somebody can use.

I made my first guitar pick from a cracked cymbal a few years ago, and after using it for a couple of weeks, it changed my pick preference forever. Some people like the stiffness of the metal, some others like the sound it produces when it touches the strings, to me, what I like the most is that you get a fuller feel from the strings to your fingers (if that makes sense). I guess that the conduction of the vibrations from the strings is better than that of a regular plastic pick. I love these picks when I use them with my acoustics.

These picks came from a Zildjian cymbal.
I cut the picks with a jewelers saw, file the edges with a needle file, then sand the edges (from 220 grit sandpaper to a scotch bright pad) to leave a smooth uniformed edge. I finally buff them with a mild abrasive and polish them with jewelers rouge to get a mirror shine look. The size is the same as that of a regular guitar pick and the thickness is around 1mm, putting them in the medium to heavy range.

The picks you will receive are like the ones in the pictures, maybe a little variation in the pattern from the ridges, but they all came from the same cymbal. And of course, a little bag to put your picks in.

I have other kinds of cymbal picks, so you can mix-match your order, as long as they are cymbal picks. If you want other kinds of picks in your package like the peso picks shoot me an email and I'll give you a very good deal on them.

I also do custom work on picks and pick boxes, so if you are looking for a special gift email me.

Thanks.

Tony
