Not to be confused by lower quality Bacchus brand that have been farmed out to computer generated, cheap labor, therefore inexpensive models, all over the Internet , with different sub titles, this is the original Company Headway, that made hand made reproductions of famous American brands. This bass was my back up for many gigs ,though rarely played, because my primary bass is 1962 vintage Jazz, but this bass definitely has more volume, sustain, and powerful pick ups than my vintage Jazz. It is alittle heavier than a alder wood body Jazz Bass, that is probably why it is louder with the denser , heavier wood, probably ash, or senn. It has a beautiful vintage true fiesta red color, one of Fenders original colors. The neck is nice figured maple, beautiful comfortable, low action with dead on intonation, could use a new set of strings ,these are round wound on it now, I don't change my strings often but prefer the sound of an older string through a good pre amp which can revive missing tone quality of older strings. Bass tone preference is a personal thing, I vary mine from song to song. Only thing that I didn't receive when I bought this from Japan, is the bridge pick up cover, which everyone takes off anyway. A few small screws could fill in these holes, but I've never bothered on any of my jazz style basses. This bass is in mint condition , handmade ,in a different era of guitar production as well as quality. Bacchus today still makes excellent , expensive Basses today, though, like when this one was made, mostly for the Japanese Market. Will be shipped, securely, safely, insured. These early Headway Bacchus American style reproduction of famous American brands are becoming harder and harder to find even in Japan. The current Bacchus company produces a Woodline series of equal quality and also Bacchus Deviser series , you can Google research this guitar company's history. They are not well known, this bass is a beauty and also a piece of the history of the production of fine hand made guitars and basses in Japan in the later 70's, 80's and early 90's.
