Pearl’s Free Floating Snares are designed to ensure that absolutely no hardware is attached to the drum's shell. This allows the drum to breathe freely, without interruption; giving it a truer, more articulate sound with improved resonance. This drum features 6-plies of Maple with a an inner ply of African Mahogany. This gives the drum an extremely warm, lush sound that is capable of everything from crisp highs to booming lows. Free Floating Snare Drums are equipped with Die-Cast hoops, free floating lugs, and Pearl’s SR-160F strainer. The SR-160F features Pearl’s exclusive Click-Lock system which simultaneously “locks” the snare lever and the tension adjuster. This guarantees the snares will not loosen over extended periods of play.
