Product Description

Up for sale, a 1982 Marshall JCM800 2204 tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in good working order. This early vertical input JCM800 head shares many similarities to the earlier JMP and can deliver the thick crunch, sizzle, and power for which the 800 series is known. Fully serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and freshly retubed with a matched pair of JJ EL34s, this Marshall is ready for stage and studio use.

The circuit is very original, with stock Drake transformers that both date to 1982, matching the handwritten 7-7-82 date on the paper tag on the chassis. The preamp has been recapped with Sprague Orange Drops, and there is one small 1/4" hole on the faceplate to the right of the vertical inputs from a previously reversed mod. There are also a few hash marks on the faceplate surrounding the stock knobs noting an old owner's preferred settings. The four chassis bolts are modern replacements.

The head retains the original molded plastic feet, corners, and handle caps, as well as the large "Marshall" logo and piping on the black grillcloth. The original black tolex shows a few minor scuffs and nicks as well, but overall this 2204 is in great shape.
