Product Description

Many of Fenders Pure Vintage hardware and bridges are crafted where possible on the same tooling and machinery as our original-era Fender parts. Some of this original tooling has been diligently rebuilt to achieve the crisp clean construction of original vintage Fender products, though many Pure Vintage parts still retrofit several of our modern instruments and amplifiers. Whether you are personalizing, modifying or restoring, there is no better way to maintain the proud heritage and period-correct accuracy of your classic Fender instrument or amp.

Great upgrade for my Squier Strat Vintage Modified! Stock tuners felt too slippery (or 'squishy') and were contributing to difficulty keeping the guitar in tune and setting intonation. In fact, tuning and intonation were literally impossible. A little money for an upgrade and a bit of work in setting up goes a long way: I installed new tuners, changed out stock strings with Blue Steel Lights 9-42, added some graphite to the nut (pencil lead), raised the bridge off the body to Fender specs (1/8") and blocked off tremelo (didn't much want or need whammy bar anyway. Like Eric Clapton, I love the Strat for its distinct look and tone not for dive bombing), adjusted the action on all strings to 3/32, and tightened truss rod slightly for .010 on the 8th fret. Problem solved! Stable tuning and perfect intonation wonderfully cured. Caveat #1: New bushings required channel lock pliers to press fit into the stock holes. They fit, just not easily. Just make sure the lip is flush all the way around. Caveat #2: B & E strings can be a bit difficult to wind in vintage tuners (as is well known). Just insert the end of string in the hole, then wind the string halfway around the peg and slip string across the slot before winding to tension. This locks it down. For me, the stability these Fender Pure Vintage tuners provide is well worth the minor trouble to install or to restring.

.I'd probably rate 5 Stars if they could guarantee the parts would never break down. Since I'm rating this one week after purchase they get 4 Stars.
I bought these replacement tuners to put on my Fender Tele Squire (which plays & sounds amazing, but "you get what you pay for" comes to mind when parts break down so quick) . The low E tuner stripped during 2nd string change, brass gear. These new tuners are slightly larger (of course) so drill out the head stock to install new press fit bushing caps and avoid breaking/ splitting your head stock. Installed tuners and my guitar plays great again. Thank you
