The Fender Jazz Bass 3-Ply Pickguard is a 10-hole pickguard similar to the '62 J Bass minus the 4 extra holes for pickup cover, thumb rest, and the 11th mounting screw, above the rhythm pickup. Some pickguards are notched for heel mounted truss rod adjustments.

its a great pickguard, it slid right on my 2004 sunburst MIM standard jazz bass. it fit really snug, no need for fileing for me. i did loosen up the metal switchplate so it got in there snugger, and so i can adjust it perfectly. The only thing is is that notch, my mexi jass does not have the need for a notch, i looked everywhere for one without, and that wasint some knockoff brand, so i just decided to get this one. its def pretty cool, im glad it fit. def good to get a real fender product, i got a fake one before for somewhere else before, and it did not work at all.

.This pickguard does not fit either of my 2000 MIM jazz basses. The neck pickup cutout for this pickguard is too small. My neck pickup is larger than the pickguard cutout.
This is what Fender Tech Support had to say:
I have no record of us changing anything size wise of the neck pickups in our Mexico and US production Jazz Bass instruments. We did change the bridge pickup width in 2001 to be wider. It's hard to say what may be the situation with the basses that you own but what is apparent is that we do not manufacture a pickguard for aftermarket direct replacement that will work with your current configuration.

.It fit perfectly on my mexi jazz bass, can't complain at all. It's not cheap but it doesn't cost as much as some other pickguards. The black pickguard looks good on my black bass.

.I own a standard mexican artic white j-bass. i decided i wanted a black pickguard but i was a little concerned that it wouldn't fit for some reason. when i got fell into place like it was the orignal white one it came with. if you wanna make your j-bass look a little different, get this pickguard.

.I ordered the black Jazz Bass pick guard to replace the original white one on my American made sunburst Jazz Bass. To me, it improved the looks tremendously. It's a matter of taste, but I like it a lot. It was a tight fit and I had to use my pocket knife to scrape inside of the area that fits around the bottom of the neck to make it snug into place. For a genuine Fender part it should have not been necessary, but it worked out well.
