Product Description

Designed for the man who has earned his place in rock history by holding down the low end for bands such as Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, Fender's Duff McKagan Signature Bass Guitar is rock and roll all the way.

Based on the instrument he has used ever since the first GNR album, the Duff McKagan Signature bass is a distinctive, sleek, and full-sounding reissue of the '80s-era Jazz Bass Special, which combined a Precision Bass body with a Jazz Bass neck and a set of Precision and Jazz Bass pickups. That's all here, with a Pearl White finish, gloss-black neck and headstock, TBX circuit (treble/bass cut), black hardware, and custom skull-engraved neck plate.

Overall a decent unit. The nut width is NOT 1.5in. it is 1 5/8ths in! so not a Jazz neck a Precision neck in look/feel - hard to understand that one. Fairly light weight. And the Toggle Switch is NOT a problem. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. And you don't have to use it. Use like a regular Jazz bass with 2vols/1 tone, with the toggle in the middle. Tone Pot felt like the internal parts were not working right like the mechanical arm that runs along the coil had allot of play in it. So not sure if would fail or was OK that way.The skull on the neck plate is a bit juvenile and would have switched that out if I had kept it. But sent it back since I think I got the one below me who sent his back; but not before he possibly or someone else removed the neck to adjust the bow, (adjusted from the bottom of the neck a real negative point), and when he/she reattached the neck, crushed the finish a bit under it as well as a scrape on the neck itself. And as I always do: - I A/B compared it to a Squire Afinity Jazz bass. Tone, weight, playability absolutely identical. Actually the Squire was faster with the real Jazz neck, better action with no bow in that neck - how I like it. The only visible difference was the Fret wire on the Squire is maybe 1mm narrower. And the bridge plate has much larger string holes drilled in it on this MZ unit. Almost looks like the string balls could pull though it? Absolutely the same tonal range/punch though using an Eden Combo.

.Actually I own one of the original "89" Fender Power Jazz Bass Specials and while browsing through the local music store I came across one of these. It played and sounds very close to my PJBS which honestly surprised me a bit since the original is from Japan. Like mine the sound was easy to dial in and get just about anything your twisted little heart desires. The feel and workmanship is nearly identical to the original but the have removed some of the controls and thus you cannot get the full range of sounds my bass can get. The neck was again a bit lacking in overall playability from mine but evenly balanced and solid from top to bottom. The dirty low down is this, if you can't find one of the originals then this is by far the closest thing to it you will ever find. Lots of manufacturers offer a P/J combo but Fender did it first and,as usual, best.

.I always wanted the original 80's Jazz Bass Special made in Japan so I was so excited when I saw them come out with this Duff McKagan Signature bass. It looks amazing, it plays amazing, and it sounds amazing. I play in cover band and our set list ranges from Guns n' Roses to Lady Gaga and this bass get's so many different tones out of it that you will find the sound you are looking for. I have gotten nothing but compliments on how amazing this bass sounds and looks. This bass is helping me take take my craft to the next level. Duff Rocks!!!!

.I got this bass off SamAsh, took 6 months to get to me. When it came in, finally, it was in great working order for all of about 2 months, then I noticed a terrible warping of the neck, as well as the bridge assembly literally falling apart.

They lie and tell you that it's a Jazz neck on a P body, but it's really just a P bass that says Jazz Bass on the headstock. Don't believe the lies. This bass is an absolute piece of garbage.

I had lost all faith in Fender MIM quality, but then I got a killer deal on a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass with a Babicz FCH bridge.

DEFINITELY overlook this bass when shopping for a new bass, go for the Deluxe Active Jazz instead. You'll be glad you did.

.The Duff Man has got some really good taste. I'm usually a Jazz Bass man myself, but the P/J pickup configuration in my opinion is the best setup tonal wise. Excellent, yet simple color scheme. I love the white with black! Classic Fender, Classic Duff! I'm usually not a Rotosound guy either (Dean Markley and DR for me!) but if I can get Duff's gritty rock tone with this bass and some Rotos then I'm sold.

.I have this bass. I plugged it in stock and it played and sounded just fine. I got the bright idea to change the stock fender p pick up to match the quarter pound seymour duncan j pick up. now this bass is just flat out baddass. I play it through 2 gk goldine 412 cabs with a gk backline 600 head. lots and lots of thunder without the mud!

.This ia and excellent bass. I have owned other Fenders and this one by far has the best tonally range. It is amazingly light but has more bottom end than some higher priced basses. For sure one of the better buys out there relating to name brand basses. Truely worth the price tag attached to it.

.I ordered this bass expecting it to look like the picture. It ended up being a glossy, sparkly, pale yellow, which I did not like. The headstock and neck are both glossy, but they look sweet. It felt less solid than my Fender Highway One jazz. On the positive side it has a lot of great tones to it. It's nice having P and J pickups on one bass. Like the other reviewers said the toggle switch feels a bit loose.

.The Fender Duff McKagan Signature Bass is a great bass. It is very versitile. It is a great rock/blues bass. I personally like the p/j pickups. Duff Mckagan swaped out the j/pickup for a seymour duncan pickup. The headstock is amazing. I love the glossy finish to it. This bass is a good size also, and not too heavy. Remember I have only heard about this bass from some friends so don't throw money down on the bass before trying it out yourself. In my opinion this is a great bass for anyone who is looking for something more in a bass.
Fender Duff McKagan Signature Bass Pearl White
.Mine just shipped in and when I ordered it, I was looking for a tonally versatile bass that still looked 100% rock and roll. I play anything from Rush to Guns n Roses to Metallica to some Hendrix stuff. This bass's tone is very changeable due to the pickup toggle and the look is amazing, this bass is slightly more yellow than the pictures show it though but it's still beautiful. The only problem is that the toggle switch is a small bit loose feeling but it works fine!
