Fender and Dave Murray have collaborated on yet another ferocious signature model for the longtime Iron Maiden guitarist. The Dave Murray California Series Stratocaster is inspired by Murray's longtime onstage go-to guitar, combining time-honored Strat tradition with the modern roar of three Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, the fast feel of a compound-radius fingerboard, and the high-performance reliability of a Floyd Rose bridge and nut.

I have been rocking Schecter Damien (first love!), Schecter Hellraiser (7 strings), Gibson Explorer for last 9 years. Being a heavy/thrash metal player, I love each of them. But I also had this craving for a Fender. But their bridge pickups & single coils were always getting in my way ...lol Then I found this baby with SD pickups. Wow - Iron Maiden label is totally worth it. Beautiful finish, very comfortable neck, came with a very nice Fender bag. These days made in wherever literally means nothing to me. My both schecters were imports and stood the test of time better than my US made Explorer did. Anyways, this Fender was very playable right out of the box, the action is a tad higher than the Jackson (another Iron maiden guitarist, Adrian Smith, signature US model) I also bought around the same time lately. But this Fender is just as fast - as you'd expect from a Dave Murray signature model. I am not going change stock setup in near future. Riffs sound heavy, crispy, & punchy, solos sound soulful as they should. Clean sounds are absolutely amazing as well (I mostly use a Line 6 150W Spider IV for indoor jamming, jamming through a tube amp in an apartment is a distant dream for me lol)
I have to give 5 star to the Jackson (even though it costs twice as much) though for its tone, versatility and super fast & comfortable neck. And this Fender deserves 10 stars from me for its tone, playability, look & the price tag . It's a steal for metal players who wants a Fender lol It's just not for IM fans, you can play modern metals on it without any worries. Very happy with this stat! Rock on.
