The thing about a Telecaster is the simplicity of it. This guitar is a solid made instrument. Stripped down, basic Tele. It doesn't have the body contours, pick-ups and machine heads of the USA models. But make no mistake, this is one solid guitar! Very good quality, sound and playability. Got that classic Tele "twang". A variety of tone can be pulled out of this guitar. A little heavier than the USA models as well! Before you drop the cash on an American model, play one these first. You'll be hard pressed to tell the difference other than visual appointments. I've been playing guitar for 50 years now and still can't believe the guitar you get for this price! It's a steal! I have Gibsons, but always wanted a Tele just for the sound that they produce. This guitar's tone and quality is every bit as good as the high end guitars that I own. If you purchase this guitar, you will be very impressed and not disappointed. I figure just a matter of time the MIM Tele's price is just about to skyrocket! The secrets out, folks! Get one at this price while you can!

.I bought this guitar about 6 years ago just before they raised the price. Over the last 40 years I have bought (and still have) the following electric guitars...Ibanez Pro Les Paul style, Steinberger Spirit, Vaccaro, Jackson Dinky with Sustaniac, Rickenbacker 360 Fireglo, Fender Standard Tele. The Tele put an end to my search for the perfect guitar. I play 60's and 70's classic rock. I play with tube amps and straight into a Zoom R16 recorder. I use a 10-46 string set. This tele feels, plays and sounds better than any of the others. To my ears it's what an electric guitar should sound like. It's responsive to slides and bends and strumming and soloing. It can play clean or dirty, and has that beautiful breaking twang on sliding bar chords that is the heart of electric guitar for me. It's the cheapest of all my guitars and the best. This one gets played while all the others gather dust. The best guitar I have had at any price. Tune it and play it forever.

.Love this guitar! I have the black one, and it is just beautiful.
It DID require proper set up of both neck adjustment (eighth of a turn took care of it), and bridge saddles (proper intonation)...but every guitar I have ever bought via mail has needed this...they are in the business of selling instruments, not tuning them.
Playing it through my Fender Ultimate Chorus amp it has a tone that is unbeatable at any setting on clean or distortion. However; through my Vox VT30, I can't seem to find a sound I like (strange I know)...so it MAY depend on the amp and/or effects you use.
I say "strange" because I can get a decent sound through the Vox with my Squire Standard Tele (Blonde w/Rosewood fretboard) with Bigsby bridge add-on I installed myself. But the Fender Tele has much hotter pick-ups.

Though I also have two Strats....nothing beats the feel and playability of a Tele---NOTHING.
Could never substantiate (in my personal life) the price of an American guitar, when you can get just as nice of quality and sound with a cheaper model through the right amp. And this Mexican Tele proves it.

Get one in any color, they are all gorgeous.

.I recently purchased this guitar in "Midnight Wine". I was worried that it was going to be more of a red than a dark purple, however, when I received it I was thrilled to see that the dark color was there. I put a black tele pickguard on it and now it looks even better. The feel and glide of the neck can't be beat, and all of the tone you could ask for is there. The only problem is the factory set up. I have some fret buzz, not horrible, but enough to bother me. The open D and G buzz, as well as the fifth and seventh frets. I plan to take it to a guitar shop and have it properly set up, and fully expect this guitar to sound, look, feel, and play like a USA model. If you don't mind having some work done, THEN GET THIS GUITAR.

.So comfortable and easy to play, I dare to say it almost plays it self!!!
I've played other guitars like Gibsons and Yamahas and this Fender Standard Telecaster is simply the best guitar I've played... Just play it through a nice amp and add some cool effects, and enjoy its beautiful sound!!!
Simple guitar with a great sound!
Well constructed, solid wooden body, lovely maple fingerboard!
THe only bad thing were two pickguard screws that got rusty a few months after I bought the guitar, so I had to change them...
This is an amazing guitar...

.Okay, I will now embark on a long and very sad tale, I bought the artic white standard tele. I could barely sleep @ night, I was so excited! And when it finally came, I was so happy! I intended on replacing the white pickguard on it to a black one but it looks so sweet w/ the white one! Note: all the guitars finishes look way better in person than on the site. As for tone, it is rich, all the single-coil u could want! I loved it, even striaght through my 5 watt tube amp.
Perfect for blues, jazz, and almost any kind of rock! It even held up to some hardcore as well. Very versitile, very awesome! I also appreciated the gig bag included. The pickups do have a little hum, especially @ high volumes but not much. Everything on the guitar feels real. It seemed packaged well too. But then I found it, that deadly blemish. There was a poor paint job underneath the clear finsh. Somebody forgot to finsih painting it white and there was this grey smudge-like thingy! It broke my heart b/c I was in love w/ this guitar! Desprate to have it, I quickly called. I wanted to do an return & exchange. But they told me that they no longer sold the guitar in this finish, that it was discontinued or something. That made like no sense to me. (or any other human being) I was so dissapointed!! Believe me, this guitar is one u will fall in love with w/in the 1st day! It is very different and inspiring from a humbucker guitar and I only had humbucker guitars b4 this one! As I began to dispair, I also noticed that my gig bag had a hole in it! That was the final straw, I returned the item (guitar and gigbag). Also, another note, u should see the neck plate on the back of the guitar! It is a 60th aniversiary one and it has a tele emblem on it and everything! Very nice! I urge you if you're not sure about this guitar, just buy it, it will inpress you! Thanks 4 reading my huge review/story.
I'm giving this a 9 only b/c I can hear a iny bit of hum from the pickups @ loud volumes. But they sound sweet, very twangy, and great for jazz, blues, or rock. (even a little hardcore)
I could not even tell the difference between this guitar and an American standard! It sounds as good, plays as good, and looks as good!
I think this guitar is a great buy, I'd easily buy it again. Although I would get a hardcase instead of a gig bag.

.This was the first guitar I bought myself. I bought the 2009 version when I was 17. It was definitely a step up from my Epi LP Junior. It's got great versatile tones; you can play crunchy palm muted riffs and switch over to beefy blues tones or fuzzy stoner rock riffs. It's durable, it's versatile, it stays in tune, it sounds great, it's a great value, and it's a sharp-looking guitar. Definitely something you'd want to take some time to consider.
Everything on it is straight forward and simple: Tone and volume knobs, pickup selector. If you like simplicity, this is what you want. Jumbo frets are also make playing more comfortable if you are a big handed individual such as myself. The neck pickup adds a lot of extra beef to the tone if that's your kind of thing. I never was a fan of through-the-body stringing until I got this guitar; once I restrung it a few times it really changed my mind on it, it makes things much easier.
I've never had any bad experiences with the quality of a Fender. Very-well made, durable, and clean cut guitars.
Excellent pricing, considering the American Tele is a few hundred dollars more.

If you are a Tele fan but cant afford the us model I recommend this Standard Tele. Buy it for the low price that MF has on it and you will be very pleased that you did. 100% Fender Quality throughout. Several colors to choose from.

.The MIM guitars are now up to par in finish work now with the best of anything around. Paint, and satin finished necks......they just look good. Under the hood.....is another story. I'm just being honest. I take everything apart to see exactly what I'm getting. The person who does the soldering for all the electronics is bad. Nothing was loose....but instead of nice, well heated connections, with a seamless flow of one pool of solder, it was a blotchy mess in every pot. The capacitor was bent many times to fit in the pot terminals and had a crinkled lightning bolt look to it. Not good. The pickups are ....OK. And fine what what you pay. But they're very very cheap construction. Replacing them with a decent after market Glendale, Callahan hardware, and good pots, oak grigsby three way....set will make this guitar a really decent one. On the neck, the fret ends will nip you as the neck shrunk and the frets grew a little. I humidified the guitar, and did some light fret dressing to fix that. Bottom line....a decent guitar for the money if you buy it with a 20% off coupon. I got mine for 400.00 shipped. Then replace everything from hardware to pickups.....and you not have a really great gigging workhorse. Hope this helps.....it's a beautiful guitar though. That is perfect. It looks great.
