I purchased this guitar about three years ago when I was big into my C.O.B. and V-guitar phase. For the time it was nice. It sounded way better than my guitar from my Behringer starter pack. But after playing higher end guitars over the last couple years (ESP MH1000 Deluxe and Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR), I don't really understand why this thing is priced at $500.I'll start with the pros about it.PROS: Regardless of what anyone says, the Floyd Rose Licensed trem DOES stay in tune suprisingly well. After playing OFR's over the past couple of years, I can tell the difference, but I still have no problem with the Licensed Floyd. Plus, if it gets out of tune, all you to is twist the fine tuners and you're good to go.The neck is probably my favourite neck I've ever played (other than my ESP MH1000 Deluxe). I really like it because it's flat and fast. The 24th fret can be hard to hit at times, but that's what tapping is for yo!The jack for the cable is in a really good location as well. I think they put it there so you can solo with it on your knee just like Alexi does! One other thing about it that is really nice is how small and light it is. When I used to use this at local gigs I would swing this thing around with ease. It's so light and small and just fun to get heavy with live! But the small body and lightweight is also a con...Now to the bad stuff.CONS: Because it's so small and lightweight, the wood in the guitar aids to absolutely zero tone. You cannot get a warm tone out of this thing stock to save your life. I play a little jazz and this thing is terrible for it because it's got no warm tones at all.The ESP-EMG humbucker blows. Bottom line. Replace it and maybe this guitar will blow your socks off. I'd put an EMG 81 and an 85 in there if I had the money, but that would also require cutting holes out for a neck pickup. I wish I knew more about guitars before buying this one. At the time I didn't even know what the pickup selector switch was for!BOTTOM LINE: You deserve a better guitar. Don't buy this one because of the reasons I did. If you plan to switch out the humbuckers it, I imagine it will sound way better, but until then get earplugs because the stock ones are terrible.Look into Schecter or higher end ESP models. Sure, it's more cash you're out, but it's years of a great guitar you'll enjoy!Hope this helped.

.I've been playing for over 25 years and got this guitar in a trade. I'm an avid Ibanez junkie so this was a stretch for me. It came with the EMG Alexi pickup which sounded super bright live, but when I recorded it through my eleven rack it actually sounded quite amazing. But then again you can put an EMG on a tennis racket and still sound like an EMg. As with all V's, be prepared for chips on the wings, they tend to bump into everything.
Don't bother playing sitting down, it's uncomfortable as you can imagine.
Neck is decent, Floyd is ok, stays in tune and you get great reach on the higher frets.
I wouldn't pay retail for this guitar though, 300 is tops. I would say this guitar is strictly for metal, specially with only one pickup.

.So is funny how i got this guitar. Long story short I bought it in a leap of faith for 200 dllrs with a case. Anyways, I was going to sell it has I have a hellraiser with emgs 81-85 but man the tone on this thing through my not so great amp makes it sound so crunchy and agressive, as well as clean. I have a vypyr (which is not the best thing I know) but for metal this guitar and that amp make a better combo than my schecter with emgs 81-85. It is personal opinion i guess. But I also have a mexican strat and a ibanez rg350 and this guitar is pretty nice and super light too which I like.

.I think it is awesome for sitting. plus the jumbo frets make it amazing for shredding. I wouldn't recommend it for rhythm, but that's why it's a lead guitar. Get it

.I bought this axe three months ago.Everybody had trashed it, hated on it etc etc.I didn't care about other people's words, so I bought it.If you play shred or rock, this axe is DEFINATELY for you.All the haters who hate on LTD's and only want ESP's, its awesome that your mommy and daddy will buy you a 4000+ $ guitar, but play this for a while and tell me what you think. It's tremendous for the amount I paid.I'm super psyched. The LICENSED bridge stays in tune....the pickup is...okay.I bought a seymour duncan Blackout and this axe is now a beast.I knew what I was buying [bolt on, licensed bridge, ESP-EMG pickup etc.] and I got more than I asked for. Thanks ALexi.you are god

.It is amazing the only thing I recmmend you do is swap the pickup for something else
I liked everything about this guitar exept the pickup so i swapped it for a dimarzio super distortion and now this thing screams.
It is made very solid and is light as a feather.
You get a great guitar for the money.

.I bought this guitar in Steve's Music Store in Toronto, it did not come setup, and while I was trying it I really wanted to buy it and felt something was wrong. I discovered that even after being setup, this ESP feels pretty stiff. Also, the only included pickup is an ESP original, which for metal lead guitar, works wonders, but otherwise, is horrible. I suggest adding a neck and middle pickup, and if you want, replacing the bridge pickup. The 24 frets are all easily accesible, but the neck wood is too resistant, and I can't seem to move very fast on the fretboard. Going through a shred lick vertically in a 4-5 fret range can be done quite well, but if you move horizontally up a string or in a diagonal fashion, shredding becomes very difficult. I find shredding on most Grestch Acoustic and Semi-Acoustic guitars is actually easier then on this thing. The quality is put to 4.0 because it literally comes with a sticker on the back that states the guitar is made offshore, instead of actually imprinting it. Overall, this guitar should only be bought if you're down on money, and need a guitar for a really loud Metal Lead sound.

.I own this guitar and it plays amazing. The fretboard feels nice, the cutaway is a welcome over its counter part the jackson rr3. The sawtooth inlays are awesome. The double locking tremelo system is awesome as well. The pickup it came with is ok, but i decided to put in an emg hz-4 in it, and now its wayyyyyyyy better. overall this guitar is awesome and id suggest it.

.This guitar is pretty good, you need to change the pickup ASAP though. it sucks bad. i personally think it sounds much better with a dimarzio evolution personally. It has a great neck. The body is VERY hard to play sitting down. If money is tight and you saved alot to get this, i suggest looking at an Ibanez or a Schecter. I'm really trying to help whoever reads this.

.This is a sick guitar. If you're like me and you want a sick looking V guitar, but you don't want to have to spend several people's life saving to buy a Gibson, or nowadays even a Jackson, this thing owns. It could do with a better pickup, a tone knob is nice, but hell, you really can't complain when you see the price tag. The neck is just right, not extremely thin like an Ibanez Prestige, but not fat like a Gibson. It's great for leads, as well as for chording. Alexi Laiho is good at designing guitars. People such as me who liked the Jackson RR3 Rhoads should consider this guitar, many of the same traits.
