I wanted a string to fatten up the sound on my guitar and this string was perfect for the job. I dont actually drop tune often on this guitar. They hold up wonderfully for drop tuning, seeing how that is the original purpose of the string. I like the tension they add. Its not much more than typical strings have. The added depth and fullness is great though. My EMGs really benefitted from these strings. The price is great and they hold up over time.

.I won a set of these through Dunlop, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I've had them on my 2001 Gothic Les Paul for over a month and they're still fresh. They're similar to the regular Dunlop 10 gauge, which I've also tried, but the Heavy Core has outlasted and performed my standards. Daddario's are my usually brand, but that might change.

.These strings actually do what they are advertised to do. These 10-48's have the tension and characteristics of approx 11-52's. If your guitar is set up for standard or E flat with normal 10's, then you can expect to be able to tune down to D standard or even C# without making many adjustments. My 24 3/4 scale guitar is tuned to C# standard with these strings now and feel very nice, not all floppy and dull. I have read some other reviews that seem to exaggerate a little saying C standard and even drop A works with these, don't believe that, maybe with the heavier gauges in this line that could be done. The tone is good also, not muffled and dull like some strings get when tuning a full step down or more. Very cool. I have used the 10-46 Zakk W from this brand on a Custom 24 tuned to D standard and the bridge floated perfectly, I did not have to adjust the tremolo at all. So if you want to tune down a step or so without filing your nut, these are for you.

.best tone and feel A++++++++

.I'll never play anything else for a long time unless I'm really hard up. The new feel is perfectly broken not overwhelmingly new requiring little stretching, the sound is perfect for any music where you tune below D.

very smooth slides the grip is like DR Dimebag Hi-voltage strings. Think a darker version of D'Addario strings, I've used ernie ball to Dean Markley and whatever my former guitar shops could throw at me and these are way better.

.I have many different guitars that are set up for many different purposes and I am sold on this set for all of my D tuned guitars. With a good feel and no coloring of tone like some other strings, these are a good choice.
I am quickly becoming a fan of the heavy core strings. The 10-48 set is great for D std. on a 24.75 scale guitar. The heavy core strings seem to feel a little stiffer for faster playing and lower action with no buzzing. They also have a smooth feel for the gauge.
Pricing is in line with other industry standard strings. Good value considering the quality.
