I originally got these picks after I decided to pick up the mandolin recently and they work very well for that. I tried them on my guitar even comparing the many other picks that I've accumulate over the years and these pick and I can't believe how much better sounding and how much easier it is to play with theses picks. I was using the Ultex sharp picks before, and while they are great picks, these Pimetones just seem right to me.

.These feel VERY close to the fine but expensive blue chips, the difference being you can take these out of the house without worrying too much. I have tried several shapes and thicknesses, this one is best for mandolin (for me anyway). It's a little small for guitar. My favorites are the various sizes & gauges of the triangle shape (the large triangle 1.4 mm is a great all-purpose pick for me). I'm not as wild about the grippier (raised lettering) variety, they seem to be a harder material and occasionally the grippy part can catch on the strings if you're not careful, but they are still very good picks - they obviously take time and effort to round and bevel each pick, though it's a little less obvious with thinner gauges. Try several, it's a small investment.

.Have previously used the same shape/thickness "Dunlop Primetone Semi-Round Shape with Grip" (the translucent version). This one produces less volume and less 'cut' than the "Grip" version, although they're supposedly made from the same material. I would say tone/volume-wise this pick is similar to the Golden Gate mando pick. The "Grip" version is more on par w/Wegen mando picks I've used. Lately, I prefer the "Dunlop Primetone Triangle Shape 1.5mm" (the full size triangle) for mando.

.I would love these picks if it wasn't for the little "click" noise every time the pick strikes against the strings on my mandolin. I don't know how it would be on a guitar. They are easy to hold and feel good between my fingers. They slide off the strings probably better than any other picks I've ever used. I've only used them a few times, but am wondering if maybe that "click" will go away with extended use. I might keep using them (at times) for a good period of time to see if that issue gets better!!! I gave one to a friend of mine that plays guitar to see how it works for him. He'll surely put it to the test. If I can, I will submit another review later about them! For the price I would suggest that everyone give them a try to see how they work for you. They're just not quite "making it" for me at this time!

.I play both a standard six string and bass. I was using my trusty fender mediums for both until i started to notice extra strain on my strumming hand after a long band practice with my bass. These really stood out to me for the fact that they were semi rounded, 1.3mm and claim to produce a better sound. After just a few short weeks these are my new bass picks! The bigger size feels more comfortable and natural in my strumming hand and alleviates most of the strumming tension. Did i mention they sound great too! I may be looking in to replacing my old fenders with some nice new primetones.

.This is a nice Mandolin pick, it gives a softer sound and very pleasant.
