Yo-OK, I won't mention the brand, but I thought I was stuck with scooped mids and stainless steel if I wanted lower tension and brightness and punch. I was wrong. These Dunlop nickels have changed my thinking about bass strings in general. These nickels have the brightness and punch of stainless, but easier on my hands and frets, and they last longer! I don't want to tear up my high end or vintage basses with stainless, and since I've found Dunlops, I won't be afraid of that any longer. And, I won't be dialing up fake mids to replace those I lost with that OTHER brand that begins with a D. Try them, you will become a believer!

. I use these on all my Fenders both 4s and 5 strings. I used to use DR Low Riders until I tried these. For the money there is no comparision and I haven't seen any downside to these compared to the DRs. They seem to last just as long and sound just as good. They are crisp and articulate with consistant sound up and down the fretboard. I have never recieved a package with any dead strings and have never broken one no matter how reckless I get. Great strin! Great price! Pay more if it makes you feel better but you owe it to yourself to at least give them a try.

.Put a set of these on my P bass ,and was absolutely blown away by the tonal quality. The only drawback was that killer sound only lasted for two gigs,and went deader than the lights at Wrigley field. Now after thirty seven years of playing I'm totally used to the fact each manufacturer makes a "dud" now and then because I have had a bunch. I haven't decided whether or not to use these bass strings again. Now on the other hand I put a set of Dunlop nickel plated strings on my stratocaster and I'll be using those from now on especially the Reverand Willys. Dunlop electric guitar strings yes bass strings uhh probably not.

. They offer good tone, definitely some improvment on the mids, great for (but not limited to) rock music but the durability is what let me down. They're last just a tad longer than the average bass string, but definitly not like Elixirs.

.OK, I could say that I am a diehard Dunlop user. I already use their Ultex Tri picks, Strap Loks, Crybaby and MXR, so I gave these a shot. Wow. Perfect tension, not too rubbery like DR's, but not stiff like D'addarios. It had a more focused low end than the DR's, but similar top end, clear and bright, but had the midrange like D'addarios. The perfect string, I can't recommend them enough.

.OK, I read the review in Bass Player, but still...you can't believe everything you read in that mag. So, I gave the med. nickels four string set a chance. I have been a diehard DR fan for years....until know. I feel like I have a new bass! I have midrange and true fundamental again, but with the crunch and punch of the DRs. Blown away, try these strings once and you will be a believer.
