I played the Tortex for years. It gets the job done. I eventually experimented with different picks. Over time I settled on the standard Jazz III XL. They worked well for me. I recently saw the Primetone version and decided to give it a try. Wow, I was sold within the first minute! They do cost a bit more, but it is well worth it. My micrometer says the Jazz III XL and the Primetone Jazz III XL both avgerage 1.37mm. The Primetone is more stiff however. The material is simply not as flexible as the standard Jazz III XL. I will definitely be buying more of these.

.I got these Saturday morning and have been playing virtually non spot for the last 12 hours side by side with four other jazz III xl picks. I have the tortex in 1.5 and 1.35, the yellow ultex in 1.38 and the original nylon reds. I purchased the 1.4 mm pack. These have the same durability as the other ultex (which is far superior to both the nylon and the tortex) but they have a finer tip because of the sculpting. The slightly thicker(.02mm) overall dimension gives a more robust feel in the fingers and seems to help me with my attack. Additionally, the grip is very positive but not enough that you can't adjust it while playing and is exactly what this line needed.

I have been a jazz III XL player for years but this is definitely the best version of it I have seen. They are definitely worth it and I just ordered a second pack of 12.
