Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top is known for big fat Texas tone that has been described as "hot, blue, and righteous." Dunlop developed Reverend Willy's strings in collaboration with Billy himself, aiming to make replacement guitar strings that offer a real punch and while remaining articulate and clear when guitarists perform his legendary leads and pinch harmonics.

..I got these strings to try because I never played strings this light before. I figured it'd be a fun goof just to say I had 7's on my Tele once. But these haven't been off my guitar since I put 'em on!! I was expecting almost unplayable rubber bands but that is FAR from what I got with these.PLAYABILITY- Like buttah. Bends are effortless. In a way, they've made me a better player because instead of "feeling" the bend with the tension of heavier strings, you have to use your ears more to make sure you nail the target note. It makes you pay attention to nuance. If you're used to heavy strings, you will have to adjust your touch to a degree. But the rewards are worth it. I'm a big guy with big hands, but I've always had a really light touch so I'm able to really let myself go on these instead of fightng with a heavier gauge.DURABILITY- I bend the living hel outta these (2+ steps) and they haven't broken yet. And they stay in tune!! I've heard people complain how easy it is to knock light gauged strings outta tune, but these only needed minor stretching when I put em on and they've stayed in tune perfectly since.SOUND- The "Heavy String" vs. "Light String" debate will go on forever no doubt. Yes, the two sounds are different. But these are not lacking for tone. Sure, some bass is gone but I turned up the mass on the amp. Problem solved. The treble can be a bit more biting on light strings. I turned my treble down. Problem solved. My guitar also has a tone knob if further tweaking is required. I enjoy the clarity of these lighter strings as well.

.The 7 and 9 are fantastic - I used to get sore fingers fast from the gauges that come in an 8 set. These strings make my guitar very playable!
I have smaller hands and love these strings. I play lead guitar and can now really get into my bending.

.Just got these before needing to get my guitar's neck unbowed and thought "two birds with one stone!" A through high E were great, but the G slipped out of the tuning peg and was clipped so I couldn't get it back in there. Replaced it with an Ernie Ball 0.011 and all was well. Seemed, though, that the low E had a lot of tension compared to the rest of the set. My calipers measured it as being 0.042" thick. So Dunlop might make the greatest strings of all time ever, but pobody's nerfect. Replaced it with an Ernie Ball 0.032" and it's funny and cool how "fat" a thin, barely-tensioned string can sound.
Enough bellyaching - on to the strings themselves. They are awesome, amazing, stupendous, inspiring, mystifying, enchanting, encouraging, and fun. Finger vibrato, pinch harmonics (even with the tone nob rolled back), and 2-step bends are all extremely easy with these puppies. Probably can all be done with Ernie Ball Extra Slinkys for a few bucks less, but these strings are very nice. Definitely buying again so as to get the right Low E and not miss out on the G.

.These strings are proof that lighter gauges DO NOT equal a small sound or loss of tone! Yes, I was a doubter for years and for years I believed that I would play GHS Custom Light 9-46 Boomers or Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys forever, but being older and wiser now, I have found the set of strings that have opened my eyes to lighter gauges and their benefits. I love to bend strings! All six of them! I have all the control I need over every string, with bends, vibrato etc. They sound great! They feel great! That's all I need to keep stringing these up!

.I love these strings! Very rubber band like on my strat, which makes it a joy to play. I was curious about the lighter gauge strings (used 10's), and I'm glad I made the leap.
the response and attack on these strings is ridiculous. can't play too hard, but the softest touch can bend a note to wherever. Definitely makes you pay more attention when soloing as you can do any bend without any effort. Voodoo child lick now is a breeze, lol. Thank you Billy Gibbons for getting 7's made. They are a blast!

.I've been playing for over fifty years. Ernie Ball Super Slinkys to .13's dropped tuned. I've always wanted the best tone possible. If you think 7's are too wuss... you're missing out on opening up new potentials. Get a set-- you'll be surprised.

.I have always used 010 or 009 on my stratocasters because of the longer scale. I always thought the heavier the string the better the tone however the string gage doesn't effect the tone as I found out. I put these strings on my 2004 50th aniversery strat and I can't believe the tone and so easy to play.I wish I had done this years ago. I have played guitar for 50 years and it puts a whole new life in it for me.
