The pickguard is dressed up with a Celtic cross while the black-on-black hardware and satin black finish give it a decidedly dark demeanor. Two Thunderbird Plus pickups provide appropriate growl. I've been using this bass for almost a year now and it has definetly proven its worth. It is a solid entry-level bass guitar. Its classic stylings and solid feel are well worth the money if you're looking for a deep, Rock and Roll-type bass. For those who seek a more tonally diverse bass guitar within the same price range, I would reccomend seeking a differnet pickup configuration.
The features of this bass are decent. The Thunderbird Plus pickups allow for some deep bass but lack the punch that some bassists desire. The 3-point bridge isn't the worst bridge, but it does make setting-up more time consuming.
The quality is better that expected for the price range. I haven't had a problem with the finish scratching or chipping off. I didn't find any manufacturer's imperfections on the bass. However, the metal hardware is noticeably cheap on this bass. For example, the screws used for the pickups and pickguard both strip and rust easily.
The value of the Goth Thunderbird by EE-Epiphone-e is excellent. Some other basses in the price range are more tonally diverse, but this bass will get the job done for most types of Rock.

.Quality alright. Feels solid, but the flat finish just comes off. And sounds ok. The only thing is that it is terrible to play because the neck is just so bad. And once the flat finish comes off (which it will) it gets sticky and hard to play. Do not buy this online, TRY YOUR GUITAR OUT IN PERSON BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!!

.Biggest thing you need to know: this bass is really made to look cool, everything else is secondary. I bought it for a gimmick 80s hair band that I play in, and it is perfect for that. It plays well, and for the style of music I use it for, the sound is pretty darn good. Most importantly, the look is ideal. Again, this bass is primarily designed to look cool.

That being said, it would not be my go to bass for any other band as the look and sound wouldn't fit what I'd be trying to do. The balance is not ideal, as the neck dives pretty badly if playing while standing.

In summation: this bass looks cool, sounds ok, and is great in the proper application, it's just not for every situation or every player.

.I have been playing bass for about 6 years now, and I got this about a year ago because my specter bass wasn't doing it for me. It was definitely a smart move. This bass has a sweet sound, and great playability. The neck doesn't have what I call "sticky gloss" so you can slide easily. But here are the bad parts. The head dives really bad and the bass is really heavy. It didn't take long for the bass to get worn down. Yhe bridge is annoying to maintain, because wen I got it, it had really bad fret buzz and i had to adjust the truss rod, butt for some reason it still had fret buzz. so I adjusted the bridge and the fret buzz wasn't nearly as bad but at some pars it was still pretty bad. i also had to reassemble the whole bridge, because i was changing the strings and the saddles slid out of place. but even with all of that it is still fun to play and it does have a pretty sweet sound for the price.

.I tried to order one of these through MF however they kept sending me what appeared to be used/open box items with scratches, bad paint jobs and setups, missing plastic protective covers over the truss rod, screws with metal shavings everywhere etc. Really annoying! Also, factory setup seems hit or miss regardless of where you order these from. I ended up getting a used Korean-made Goth online for about third of the price of a new one and it is a dream compared to the bs MF tried to send me. Not sure if the problem is with MF or the fact most Epi's are now made in China or a combination of the two (tried to get a Dean bass and same thing, looked used). The Korean made Epi's may be superior, at least in my experience. So, now you know why I rate the Value and Quality at 2.5, because it is hit or miss. No guarantee you will get a good one.

.I've been playing bass for 25 years or so (off and on) and this is one of the best entry-level basses I've owned. I actually prefer the off-brands of the big ones because of the price and the subtlety (name brands don't make you better).

I would recommend this to anyone look for a rock tone, using a pick of course, who wants to shred metal and rock. I am working on a solution for the fret buzz.

I just got this Bass a couple months ago. I am still a beginner and this bass is cool to play. Good sound and looks great. Money well spent.

.i have had mixed results with this bass. I've always loved the visual aspect, but could never dial in a good sound when I went to stores to try it. always had a flat, thumpy sound like a pile of damp fabric hitting a hard wood floor. but last time, I tried it out of a Mark Bass amp (which I find similar in sound to my Crate) and set up the EQ the way I do with my band instead of ignoring it like I usually do when I try a new instrument. this time, the tone was amazing.

My advice, try it on as close to your gear as you can, then buy the exact one you tested due to the mixed results.

.My bassist got one of these couple months ago and I have to say I love the sound. only a couple of draw backs that I have seen. Neck had to be sanded down the satin paint was a little rough and the balance of the bass is more toward the head and makes the thing slide that way. But placing the strap around the front of the guitar seems to help. I play it from time to time and think that it frets good has a wide tonal capacity and is very fast since we sanded the the neck. All in all a very good buy a set of duncans and a bad ass bridge and this thing would be perfect.

.The Goth T-bird is a really good bass for a really cheap price. It looks amazing and sounds great too but it has a few downsides. First of all Most Thunderbirds have a horrible neck dive, and second about a 2 months after i got it the wiring came undone and needed to be resaudered. But other than those minor things this bass is amazing especially for its low price.
