I am satisfied with the case. It is not "top of the line" but it is solid enough for my needs. For the price, it is a good deal especially if you are looking for a case for some very rare, oddball shaped Guilds. It will work for them too.
I was in need of a hard shell case to protect a rare Guild X-80 Skylark. Since this Guild has a radical, asymmetric shape similar to the Explorer, I figured I would give it a try. The case is large and a bit on the heavy side. The internal dimensions (something I could not find anywhere on the internet!) are 47 1/2 inches long and 16 3/4 inches wide. This includes pushing into the cushion so I would say these are the maximum dimensions that the case can hold. The body cavity is large and fits an Explorer very snugly with no chance of it moving around. The body cavity is 23 3/4 inches long. There is a little "step up" cushion that is 5 3/4 inches long right before the neck rest. The neck rest has a groove shaped into it that fits the Explorer design. It is NOT in the center of the neck rest. If you are in front of the open case, it starts 6 inches from the far side and stops at 8 1/2 inches (a 2 1/2 inch groove). The case closes tightly around the Guild X-80 and although it is shorter than the Explorer body, it does not move around in the case due to the snugness of the padding. I also tried a Guild X-82 Nova in the case and it fit even better! I tried a Guild S-281 Flyer in it and it fit but had way too much extra space around it. I tried a Guild X-79 and it did NOT fit. The distance between the upper horn and a point on the headstock on the X-79 does not clear the distance across the storage compartment.

Sufficient construction quality for home storage of guitar and light gigging. Would not hold up well on extended gigs or rough handling.
I believe I got what I paid for.

.This case fits the explorer like a glove. Large storage compartment, plenty of room for various items. The case is a little pricey but, quite a bit less expensive than a molded case. At any rate there are not a lot of cases that will work for the explorer but, this one will.

.The handle assembly is junk. The case itself is not too bad - but the handle on my case held up for about a month. First, one of the rivets that attach the plastic handle to the metal bracket came lose. I replaced these with a small bolt. Then the actual metal atted to the case came loose from the case.

.This is overall a great case. Nice plushy lining, outside covered in Tolex, solid construction, a HUGE accessory compartment inside and a lockable clasp. The only thing that may concern me in the future is the handle assembly; it seems a little flimsy. Time will tell I guess. Oh... there was mention on a previous review that this case does not fit the EE-Epiphone-e Goth Explorer... well that's completely false! This case fits the EE-Epiphone-e Goth explorer perfectly. MF even shipped mine in this case when I ordered them together.

I have 3 other hardcases for my guitars. I would say this is overall a good case it does its job. Nice soft interior. Tight fitting to the body of the guitar. Absolutely no wiggle room so your explorer shaped guitar won't bounce around. Hardware is solid. I think it should last. Honestly the only thing I can complain about is that it came with a huge scratch on the front of it brand new. A disappointment musicians friend...but it is a case and it bought it for its functionality. And it does a good job. I would also like to add that gibson makes the best hardcases in my opinion. My sg modeled case is the best, skb is good too but for the price I would say this case is well worth it if you want to protect your ax...

This case is everything i could have expected. of course is gonna be a bit heavy with your explorer in it. this case will fit a hamer standard series guitar too.
Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case
.Purchased this case to protect my investment. I only use the case to store my guitar underneath my bed and to practice within my room. I have not taken the guitar or the case to a gig, it has stayed within my home. After 3 weeks of pulling it out from under my bed the Tolex on one of the corners started to peel back. 2 weeks later, the tolex and the cardboard it was glued to came with it as well. So one corner of my case has already began to unravel. That was 6 months ago. I have "repaired" the corner with duct tape. Also I still have not traveled with it outside the house.I may have the bad one out of the bunch, I recommend a more solid case.
Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case
.Yes my Explorer does fit in the case. All the case does is keep the dust off the guitar. It is a very heavy poor quality guitar case made of card board and particle board with the Worst hardware I have ever seen. This is not a case that you take out on the road. Home use only.
Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case
.I bought this case for an EE-Epiphone-e Goth 1958 Explorer at the same time that I purchased the guitar. The guitar doesn't fit into the recessed area that is shaped like the Explorer. I called Custom Guitars Friend and spoke to a rep and he was as surprised as I was and didn't have a solution. I sent it back. It looks like a nice case but it is unuseable for me.
Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case
.Overall the case is very nice. The inside compartment lid is a little sloppy feeling. The EE-Epiphone-e 58 Korina Explorer fits very snug so it will not shift. I did get a great price when purchased and well worth it.
